Bree And Wrigley Finally Kissed, And It Was Worth The Wait

It’s no secret that Tell Me Lies loves a good twist, and during its third season, Meaghan Oppenheimer’s Hulu series surprised fans by introducing an unexpected, exciting new romance to begin: Bree (Cat Missal) and Wrigley (Spencer House).
While the bus stop heart-to-heart in the Season 3 premiere and the deep, romantic conversations fueled by their shared photography class set the stage for these friends to capture the emotions, Tell me a lie he didn’t confirm that Bree and Wrigley officially crossed the line until the end of Episode 4. The 2015 scene not only revealed that Wrigley was the one who called Bree before her wedding, but that he still loved her years after college. With Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) off our screens, I’m calling for the aspiring new king of Wrigley TV!
After Episode 5 saw Wrigley drive Bree to her mom’s house back in 2009 and the two shared a rom-com-worthy moment, Episode 6 finally set the stage for the first kiss we’ve all been waiting for. And WrigBree/Brigley fans, it was worth the wait!
Tell me a lie Season 3, Episode 6 spoilers ahead.
Tell me a lie Season 3, episode 6, “I Don’t Cry Anymore When I’m Sad,” drops in with a group of friends on Valentine’s Day, so, right away, the mood is SET. Everyone dresses up in their best emo for Valentine’s Day, but after a dramatic drinking game thrown by Tegan (Biana Nugara), a Bree/Evan (Branden Cook) rift, and a rift between Lucy (Grace Van Patten) and Pippa (Sonia Mena), the group splits up and Bree finds herself going home with Evan. again Wrigley. Awkward!
As Wrigley respectfully follows the couple, a distraught Evan presses Bree about why she didn’t tell him he was back with his mom. His questioning of their time together angers Bree, and Evan finally asks Wrigley to take him home to cool off. Just like that, Wrigley and Bree are alone again, and Bree spends little time begging for her words.
“I think wanting a relationship with your mom is the most normal thing you can want,” Wrigley reassures Bree, belying the fact that Evan seems threatened by the budding connection. Rather than fully agreeing with Bree, Wrigley also notes how “upset” she is that she confided in him just two hours after he asked her not to. “It’s not really my job if you’re upset or not, right? Because this, you and I, is nothing,” he insists.

“I’m tired everyone. We all make terrible decisions,” Wrigley continues in an epic speech calling out Evan, Lucy, Stephen, and Bree. “She’s yelling at young girls instead of yelling at a 45-year-old who’s done it wrong… I think Pippa’s the only one who’s not slacking off right now. She was like a good girl and my dumb ass is just here taking her for granted and spending a lot of time with you.” Although Wrigley doesn’t openly admit his feelings for Bree, he says enough to suggest that the chemistry they share isn’t in Bree’s head. His harsh words also prompt him to head to Oliver’s (Tom Ellis) house, where he is interviewing his wife Marianne (Gabriella Pession) about his relationship with 17-year-old Amanda (Iris Apatow).
After an emotional, painful conversation with Marianne, Bree wakes up the next morning at her professor’s house and calls Wrigley to pick her up. She apologizes and shares her vulnerability, she admits, “I didn’t know who else would call you, because I wanted to talk to you. Because you make things better, and it’s confusing. I think you’re confusing me with how I feel. I’m sorry.”
Wrigley tells Bree to stop apologizing and hugs her. The two of them brought their faces closer together, then stepped back, knowing full well that if they crossed that line there was no going back. With the tension between them palpable, Wrigley finally walks in for a kiss as “The Next One” by The Shins sets the scene. BRB IS SICK!

It’s not easy to pull a new romance out of left field for three seasons, make the connection feel strong in a short amount of time, and have viewers rooting for the couple despite knowing these two don’t end up together for years down the line. But the warm and fuzzy feelings that filled my body during that kiss proved it Tell me a lie was successful in its efforts.
After so much trauma and toxicity, it’s refreshing to see two kind characters connect on a deep, real level and get a fresh start. (Sure, it involves cheating! But cheating on people who have already cheated! And in Tell me a lie math, that makes for an easy case!) Bree and Wrigley have been through a lot in their lives and have each had to grow up very quickly, so the fact that Tell me a lie they approach the early stages of the dissolution of their friendship with a sense of innocence, somehow, as if they are simultaneously recapturing bits of their youth while rediscovering themselves. Their love is sweet, gentle, and compassionate. Their connection is unexpected, yet understandable. And while I once strongly shipped Pippa and Wrigley and Evan and Bree, as Pippa and Diana found love and Evan’s evolution took a very disappointing turn, it feels like Bree and Wrigley were meant to be. Even the actors agree!
“I liked it [the Wrigley and Bree twist]. It made me very happy. I love those characters,” White told Decider over Zoom. “I love their scenes. I thought they were very good.” Van Patten agreed, adding, “Those scenes are great. Such a relief, because it’s so delicious. Even though they’re cheating – I mean there’s bad parts about it – but when you see them together, you forget.”

Season 3, Episode 6 of The Kiss proved that beyond an emotional connection, the two have significant chemistry. So even though I watched Bree marry Evan with my own eyes in 2015, I’m going to ship Bree and Wrigley against all odds! This Tell me a lieso anything else it is possible. Right?! Stay tuned to see what the final two episodes of Season 3 have in store for the new hot duo from the past and present.
