Scoon, 29, was a teacher at Sprague High School, where he allegedly met the 16-year-old victim.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office confirms that he has been charged with sexual misconduct with a child and contact with a minor for lewd purposes.
Raymond Leaversuperintendent and principal in the Sprague School District, has not commented on Scoon’s employment status.
The investigation into his alleged behavior is ongoing.
Scoon and the girl spoke to police on Monday. He said he had molested and performed oral sex on the child.
The alleged after-school sexual abuse took place in the main room of his classroom, police said in a statement.
Investigators are said to have found a video of the two entering his classroom after school. The two sat in his classroom for 45 minutes.
Soon also allegedly kissed and touched each other’s private parts in a locker inside the school gym and in the woods outside the high school’s tennis court after practice.
The teenager reportedly told investigators that the sexual abuse began to have a negative impact on his mental health.
It is said that he told the police that he tried to end things with Scoon, but his teacher became angry and threatened to kill himself.
The investigation into Scoon began on February 15, after the boy’s mother went to the police with the documents she found, which she was sending to her son and the teacher.
The mother said it seems the abuse may have started in the fall.
Apparently her curiosity got the better of her after her son started going to church where Scoon was a youth group leader, so she checked her phone.
In some of the documents, Scoon is said to have been complaining about the problems in his marriage and told the child that he wanted a divorce. The two even said “I love you” to each other, police said.
Scoon also asked the young man not to have a relationship with one of his classmates, as he would not be able to agree, police said.
Scoon does not have an attorney of record, and has not been asked to testify. It was not clear how long she has been married to her husband.
