Savannah Guthrie’s Sister Was the Last Person to See Missing Mom (External)

Savannah Guthriesister, Annie Guthriewas the last person to see their mother, Nancy Guthriebefore she was reported missing in Arizona, Us Weekly can confirm.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos only he was spoken to Us on Monday, February 2, revealing what police know about what happened in the hours before her disappearance.

“We have a starting point,” Nanos said. “The family took him home for dinner around 9:30 to 9:45 [p.m.]” on Saturday, January 31.

“So we’re going to hold that up until maybe 9 or 8:30 p.m. to start looking.”

Nanos confirmed that Annie, Savannah’s older sister, was the last person to see Nancy, 84, before she was reported missing. (Nancy shares daughters Annie and Savannah, 54, and a son Cameron Guthrie and late husband Charles Guthriewho died after a heart attack at the age of 49.)

The sheriff noted that Annie did not raise any “red flags” about her mother’s behavior during their last interview.

According to Nanos, Nancy’s family members “were not informed about her [missing] until 11 a.m.,” the next day, while police were not called until 12:15 p.m. Sunday, February 1. As a result, officials are investigating the schedule “anywhere from 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. [a.m.]” as a window to where Nancy is missing.

“This is an 84-year-old woman who is safe in her home sleeping, and she is being taken. That should never happen,” said Nanos. Usnoting that Savannah “expressed no concern” for her mother’s health prior to her disappearance.

News broke Sunday that Nancy was missing after officials received a 911 call early in the morning from a concerned family member.

“This is very troubling to us. We don’t usually take an officer out of the scene of an incident like this. But it’s about what we learn from the house,” said Sheriff Nanos at a press conference on Sunday about the case. “So we’ll continue. The detective homicide team is out right now heading to the scene.”

He explained, “We’ve done everything we can,” adding that Nancy “is not in good physical health, so naturally that’s a big concern.”

Afterward, Nanos added in a press conference that Nancy “doesn’t have any mental problems at all.”

“She’s very awake, she has a clear mind,” he said, but pointed out that Nancy is “not well” physically. “I hope we find him safe and sound, but we can’t ignore what’s ahead of us.”

Nanos confirmed that law enforcement is “not stopping” foul play and has officially opened a criminal investigation into Nancy’s disappearance.

In a second press conference, authorities revealed that because of the crime scene – Nancy’s home in Tucson, Arizona – they believe she “didn’t go alone.”

Police added that they do not consider Nancy’s case to be a “search operation” as a crime.

On Monday, Savannah was noticeably absent from the Today show – he is currently in Arizona with his loved ones during the search for his mother. In his absence, others present issued a statement on behalf of him and his family.

“We want to better understand the personal story that is deeply personal to us,” coanchor Craig Melvin said during the broadcast. “Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother, has been reported missing in Arizona.”

He and him Sheinelle Jones then read Savannah’s statement: “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and messages of support.” Right now, we are focused on the safe return of our dear mother.

Jenna Bush Hager he also discussed the disappearance of Savannah’s mother Today With Jenna & Sheinelle On Monday. He revealed that Nancy is “taking daily medication” that she needs “to survive,” adding to the urgency they hope she is found in.

Meanwhile, Bush Hager, 44, told his viewers on Monday, “We are thinking of Savannah, who we love, and her entire family right now. Obviously, our prayers go out to Savannah.”

As the investigation continued, one of Nancy’s neighbors spoke to her Us about what happened in their community since the police started investigating the case.

“There were a lot of black vans with black windows,” Morgan Brownwho lives “a quarter of a mile up the road” from Nancy, was specifically told Us On Monday. “There were a lot of police cars there at first, then vans, so I thought maybe they encountered something.”

Brown recalled that the police had a helicopter “over there looking for him” on Sunday, noting that “there are no roads in our area. [they] he thought he went to the desert or something, but he’s walking with a cane, so I don’t think why he would do that.”

Brown noted that authorities have asked anyone with Ring cameras to look at their footage “to see if anything unusual is coming up.” He added that they “hadn’t heard that they were getting anything” from their videos, and neither had he.
