The founding team of the 98th Oscars held a press conference on Wednesday to tease some surprises for Sunday night’s awards show. Among the surprises, executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan hinted at a “big reunion” that is expected.
“There have been rumors about what that is [reunion] is, and we are very happy to announce that we have Brides the meeting will be very special,” said Kapoor.
“There’s going to be a Marvel reunion for superhero fans, so we’re going to have superstars and superheroes,” added Mullan. “And there will be an outside play on stage, so you can get that.”
Host Conan O’Brien joined the executive producers for the interview, along with musical director Michael Bearden, production designer Misty Buckley and directing choreographer Mandy Moore. It will be O’Brien’s second time hosting the awards show, which he says is no joke.

“It’s not just about being ridiculous in the future, it’s about acknowledging what this is about in a big sense,” he said. “As a presenter … I’m an entry point for the viewer at home and someone the audience can relate to.”
The program will also have many musical performances, such as “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters and celebration of They are sinners. “This year, we chose They are sinners because it’s the most nominated film ever and it has a great musical story,” Kapoor said. “It’s not just about the song, it’s the way Ryan [Coogler] composed music and incorporated it into the whole story.
“We are celebrating that film with film buyer Ruth [E. Carter] has come to help us and we have Aakomon Jones, who is the film’s music producer, working with us. We have that band again, who gave us the gift of not only the score, but that song [“I Lied to You”]and then we have all these amazing cast members, and new people who weren’t even in the movie, coming to help celebrate that. We have already blown it up.”
O’Brien said: “To my surprise I will be singing and dancing in the show They are sinners part of the show. Which was rejected by everyone, and I think rightfully so.”
