James Van Der Beek’s daughter, 9, remembers late ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star in heartbreaking video

James Van Der Beek’s 9-year-old daughter, Emilia, shared a heartbreaking video to honor the late “Dawson’s Creek” actor on what would have been his 49th birthday.
In a post shared on her mom Kimberly’s Instagram on Sunday, Emilia began her video by introducing herself, saying, “As you all know, my dad passed away, but I’m just going to give you little tips and anything to help you get through whoever you love is passing.”
He went on to say that the first thing you should do is “talk to them and get your feelings out.”
“If you miss them, you can cry, talk to them, I talk to my father every day, I start with a sentence, I say Hello father, I miss you and I love you very much, and I will not stop loving you,” he continued.
“And I just tell him about my day, how I feel and I tell my family how I’m living. And I know he hears me, but I don’t hear him.”
Emilia reminded her viewers that the key is to ‘feel it in your heart’ because “they are part of your body.” He also pointed out that his father is “in a good place” and “doesn’t feel pain anymore, he is in Heaven.”
He also pointed out that it is OK to feel different emotions from happiness, because it is “in a good place,” and sadness, “because you miss it,” to anger. However, one should never regret it because “it is not a good strategy for one’s passing.”
“Everyone has different feelings in their bodies, and they express them in different ways.” Many, many different ways,” he continued. And don’t let anybody tell you that. Be like, ‘No, you don’t know how I feel.
Emilia also reminded that one should look at death as everything “happens for a reason” before revealing, “What my father told me is that if this doesn’t work the way he wants it to happen and the way we wanted it to happen to him, I still have to believe in miracles.”
He also told his mother’s fans that she “stole” his father’s hat after his death, saying, “My dad’s hat smells like him, and I love it.”
Ending her video, Emilia expressed her gratitude to those who donated to her family’s GoFundMe set up by her mother’s friends.
“I know he was a good man. Many people loved him, and people prayed for him, and he was loved … by many people,” Emilia concluded in the emotional video.
When she posted the clip, Kimberly explained that Emilia had asked her “[made] video.”
“In my stories there are many pictures and some videos. All I want to do is watch his videos right now with the kids. Thank you for the kindness, love and support of the family. 🩷🥹”
Speaking of her late husband, Kimberly added, “James…
In the comments section, many celebrities met the family, with Rumer Willis writing, “This is so deep and beautiful and a testament to the amazing way you raised your beautiful family. Happy Birthday James. We love you.”
“You’re so smart Emilia ❤️🥹🙏🏻,” Jenna Dewan praised along with Rebecca Gayheart, Eric Dane’s widow, adding, “Oh you’re smart Emilia , thank you 🙏🏽.”
James died on Feb. 11 at the age of 48 following a nearly three-year battle with stage 3 colorectal cancer.
“He met his final days with courage, faith and grace,” his wife, 44, announced on Instagram at the time. “There is much we can discuss about his desires, love for humanity and the sanctity of time. Those days will come.”
In a last ditch effort to strengthen their love, James and Kimberly renewed their vows two days before he passed.
Besides Emilia, the couple shares Olivia, 15, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 12, Gwendolyn, 7, and Jeremiah, 4.
