Retired Phoenix Sergeant Breaks Photo Clues in Nancy Guthrie Case

A retired police sergeant from Phoenix, Arizona – just two hours away Nancy Guthrie lives in Tucson – says there are plenty of new clues to decipher in the newly released images from his Nest doorbell camera.

“Overall, it’s a big break in this case,” Troy Hillmansaid a retired homicide sergeant with the Phoenix police Us Weekly as the search continues for 84-year-old Guthrie.

The FBI released six black-and-white photos and three video clips showing the person who may have been involved, wearing a mask, black gloves and a backpack as he approached Guthrie’s residence the night she disappeared.

“You have a lot of clues baked into this, what appears to be a short video,” Hillman notes Us. “He has a ski mask, he has different eyebrows. He has what looks like a mustache. He has height, weight, they can guess.”

“They can get biometrics from facial features,” he said. “There is a lot of information, the backpack, the way he was wearing his gun, what kind of gun it is.

Hillman spoke to him Us hours before news broke on Wednesday, February 11, that FBI agents found a black glove on the side of the road about a mile from Guthrie’s home, as first reported The New York Post.

A man was arrested for this crime on Tuesday, February 10, but he was released by the police immediately, saying that he did not know about Nancy’s disappearance while insisting that he is innocent.

Hillman told us that authorities are likely hoping that with the public’s help, they will find another lead in the case. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has received nearly 18,000 calls to its first line since Feb. 1, and 4,000 calls in the past 24 hours, according to a new update Wednesday, Feb. 11.

“You can check all those things [in the footage] then start releasing those and get opinions from the public,” said the statement Expelling the Zombie Hunter the author shared. “Someone will say, ‘Oh, I know that person’ or ‘Joe wears that jacket, and it fits that person’s shape and description.’ So, just a big, big break.”

“It doesn’t mean it’s resolved,” Hillman explained. “It doesn’t mean that Nancy’s home is safe, but it means that there is a break in the case.”
