This highly anticipated junior-middleweight world title fight is guaranteed to be an exciting, crowd-pleasing fight. The event will take place on Saturday night, March 28, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Keith Thurman made his pro debut back in November 2007 when he scored a first round TKO victory over Kensky Rodney. Thurman would go on to become champion, then lead back-to-back victories in elite competition.

In June 2016, Thurman successfully defended his WBA title against Shawn Porter as he won by unanimous decision. Nine months later, Thurman became the joint champion when he beat Danny Garcia by split decision.

Thurman was destined for stardom, but unfortunately, her career was derailed by multiple injuries. After her victory over Danny Garcia in March 2017, Thurman underwent surgery to remove bone spurs from her right elbow.

The following year, while preparing for a fight, Thurman injured his left hand. Keith Thurman will return to the ring with a high profile fight in July 2019, but unfortunately for Thurman, he lost to Manny Pacquiao via split decision.

After the Pacquiao fight, Thurman suffered a left injury that required surgery. After a two and a half year layoff, Thurman returned to action as he defeated Mario Barrios.
After the Barrios fight, Thurman will be knocked down again for a long time.

After a three-year layoff, Thurman traveled to Sydney, Australia, and stopped Brock Jarvis in the third round.

Now Keith, 37, “One Time” Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) is about to face a very difficult challenge. Due to her age, injuries, and many periods of inactivity, Thurman will enter this world title as the underdog.

28-year-old defending champion Sebastian Fundora is obviously young; he is a high-volume puncher, and holds significant height and good reach. However, underdog Keith Thurman has a way to win.

In order to set up his offense, Keith Thurman will need to use combination movements, footwork, and angles. With a long southpaw like Fundora, Thurman will target the chest, shoulders and any body part within reach as it relates to landing a legitimate punch.

Thurman will also look to connect with an overhand right and her dangerous left hook. Thurman has a high in-ring IQ, and will help keep Fundora from running out of steam and make the necessary in-ring adjustments.

Thurman’s attack and punching ability give him a strong scoring opportunity. Another reason why Keith Thurman is so good at pulling off upsets is because of Sebastian Fundora’s lack of defense.

Back in April 2023, Brian Mendoza stopped Sebastian Fundora in the seventh round. Last year, Erickson Lubin lost a fight, but he was able to knock Fundora out in the seventh round when he landed heavy punches.

In Fundora’s key win, both Tim Tszyu and Erickson Lubin were able to hit Fundora with clean shots multiple times. If Keith Thurman is presented with those same opportunities, it may shine for Sebastian Fundora.

On Saturday night, March 28, the main event of Fundora vs Thurman PBC will be shown live on Prime Video PPV. The question is, will Father Time look redundant, or will Keith “One Time” Thurman bring back the old game and have another shining moment?
