Miley Cyrus is celebrating her 20th birthday Hannah Montana, the Disney Channel sitcom that made her famous. However, some key characters were missing from the much-anticipated Disney+ special, which aired today.
From 2006 to 2010, Hannah Montana-which spanned four seasons, a concert tour, and a movie-followed young Miley Stewart (Cyrus) as she balanced a dual life as a regular student by day and a world-famous music star by night. With the help of her father Robby Ray Stewart (Billy Ray Cyrus), brother Jackson Stewart (Jason Earles), and best friends Lilly Truscott (Emily Osment) and Oliver Oken (Mitchel Musso), Miley successfully kept “Hannah’s secret” under wraps for years, all the while getting into all kinds of hijinks that threatened to reveal her truth.
Now celebrating the 20th anniversary of the hit series, Miley reunites with her famous Hannah Montana wardrobe, her glamorous wardrobe, and the Malibu beach house that served as the center of Miley Stewart’s world for many years. Emily Osment and Mitchell Musso are not in the game Hannah Montana’s 20th Anniversary Specialdespite holding key roles in every Disney Channel show. A spokesperson for Osment told DECIDER, “Due to work commitments, Emily was unable to be a part of the team. Hannah Montana’s 20th Anniversary Specialbut sending love and thanks to all the fans for always supporting me!” Osment is currently filming Georgie & Mandy’s First Weddingexplosion of Young Sheldon again The Big Bang Theory.
DECIDER also contacted Musso’s officials to get more information on why he was not included, but did not hear back until press time. Like Osment, Musso took to Instagram to express his gratitude Hannah Montana and followers.
While Osment and Musso may not be in the special collection, Miley remembers meeting them for the first time, and how she thought Musso was “cute.” The singer also revealed that one of their first hangouts as a trio was at Panda Express, where he poured Diet Coke into his white rice. Somehow, Disney got away with not including Jason Earles, who played Miley’s obnoxious (or funny) older brother Jackson, in the special. DECIDER contacted Earles officials for comment, but did not hear back by press time.
While Earles didn’t get to meet his sister and on-screen dad for the Disney+ special, he did make time to join Miley and another OG. Hannah Montana singers and actors premiere Monday night (March 23). Earles was also busy thinking of his own Hannah Montana new days The Best of Both Our Worlds a podcast.
