Why Trump is wrong to call judges ‘disgraceful’ after tariff ruling

NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!

“They are fools”!

They stand for “lapdogs!”

“Unfaithful”!

They should be “ashamed,” “a disgrace to their families”!

They face pressure from “slimeballs”!

And not only “radical” Democrats, but also “RINOs”!

I’ve probably never seen Donald Trump as angry as he was after the Supreme Court ruled his tax cuts illegal.

When he read his notes, his anger was uncontrollable. As he continued to write down, he was dripping with contempt.

TRUMP UNVEILS HIS ‘NEW HERO’ IN SUPREME COURT JUSTICE AFTER GOVERNMENT

In the business of Republicans In Name Only, surprisingly the 6-3 decision was supported by two of their nominees, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Comey Barrett.

They joined the majority opinion of Chief Justice John Roberts, a consensus builder the president has clashed with in the past.

Gorsuch and Barrett are doing exactly what we want judges to do – consider the evidence and use their best judgment in interpreting the Constitution.

So why did Trump, who chose to quote Brett Kavanaugh’s denial, attack two conservatives in such terms? Are they being dishonest with the legal process that he had no authority to tax countries around the world – or himself?

Who are the unnamed slimeballs, and how do they wield so much power?

Supreme Court

During the Q&A session, Trump was asked why he doesn’t just work with Congress.

“I don’t deserve it,” he said.

But that was the crux of the high court’s ruling, that Trump needed congressional approval before imposing the blizzard tax.

Many conservatives who were not big fans of tariffs openly expressed that the Supreme Court had taken this powerful weapon out of Trump’s hands.

The president has been in trouble winning for a long time with this court, which, among other things, increased his immunity from all actions. I guess they weren’t lapdogs back then. But Friday’s ruling made it clear that even a conservative court has its limits.

Don’t take my word for it. The Wall Street Journal’s editorial page says Trump should apologize to “the judges he appoints” and “to the institution itself.” No doubt he will not give one, but his cry in response to his defeat in court was the worst moment of his presidency.”

From the left, Maureen Dowd said in the New York Times that Trump threw a “hissy fit” after the court, “which was under the megalomaniac in the White House, suddenly got a backbone.”

There are even reports that he cursed the courts that day.

Trump said he would use a separate law to impose a 10 percent global tariff, which he raised over the weekend to 15 percent. That would only take five months. But more importantly, the tariff is low compared to the tariffs that the president has been imposing or threatening to impose on different countries, allies or not, as part of his trade war, or simply because he had a phone call with a foreign leader.

TRUMP RAISES GLOBAL INCOME TO 15%

JD Vance accused the high court of “lawlessness.” Sorry, mr. Vice-President, it is good to overturn this decision, but the duty of the court is to explain the law as it applies to the other two branches.

In an internet blast directed at Gorsuch and Barrett, Trump wrote: “They vote against Republicans, and they never contradict themselves, almost every time, no matter how good the case is.” Barrett, however, voted with the majority in granting immunity to the president, although he said the court’s decision extended to this case.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick criticized “unreasonable cheers from Democrats, an ignorant media, and people eating our bases, the court did not rule against President Trump’s tax. Six judges just ruled that the IEEPA’s authority cannot be used to collect even $1 in revenue.” (IEEPA is an emergency act of 1977.)

Well… the court ruled against the taxes. And the journalists of the media court are “never informed,” they are experts, in some cases they are lawyers. Again, Lutnick’s boss blames the Republicans.

In the press, Trump asked a dumb question from a reporter: Are the judges still invited to the State of the Union on Tuesday?

“I won’t,” Trump said. What is this, middle school? They might not be able to sit at the cool kids table? The president said he doesn’t care if they come, no one else.

Trump was on target when he said this would be fought in court for two years, although it will be longer than that. Are the companies that paid 175 billion dollars now entitled to a refund? Who knows?

We are looking at the possibility of economic instability. At the very least, it’s a blow to Trump’s agenda. He doesn’t like being told he can’t do anything. Throughout his tenure, Trump has warned that losing the Supreme Court would be devastating—and now we’re going to find out what that looks like.
