Boys, 4 and 19, Shot Down During Argument with South Carolina Man

Two boys who were 15 years old were shot and killed in South Carolina late Tuesday, February 17, and now, a 34-year-old man is in jail facing murder and weapons charges.

Rock Hill police said in a statement that an altercation broke out between them Cedric Akeen Creighton and the so-called youth Jamareon Kimble.

According to police, Kimble, who is 19 years old, and Creighton know each other. The argument turned deadly when the two started shooting each other.

He was caught in the fire, which broke out at home before 8 o’clock at night before it spilled onto the street, Jakolby Cliftonwho was only 4 years old.

Creighton was shot and is in the hospital, where he is recovering from his injuries.

Other people were inside the house at the time of the incident but were not injured, police said.

Police have not said how Kimble and Creighton knew each other and did not say what the argument before the shooting was about.

Gloria Finchwho lives on Oates Street near where the incident happened, he said the Herald heard gunshots before 8pm and thought someone was setting off fireworks. “There was a lot of noise,” Finch said.

Finch, who said he is a retired jailer from the County Sheriff’s Office, told the Herald that the shooting was “like the wild, wild west.”

Once medically cleared, Creighton will be brought to the Rock Hill jail. He will make his first court appearance after being released from the hospital.

16th Circuit Solicitor Kevin Brackett he told the Herald his team has been in contact with the Rock Hill police regarding the murder. “We are aware of this situation, we have been in contact with the Rock Hill Police Department, and they have offered to help in any way they can as they investigate this tragic incident,” said Brackett.

The investigation is ongoing.

If convicted, Creighton faces up to 30 years to life in prison on each count.

In 2021, Creighton experienced a riot inside the Lancaster County Detention Center, which left parts of the facility engulfed in flames.

Creighton’s video from the chaotic scene shows the inmate pacing in front of the cell and talking to someone inside. Then, another inmate identified as Troy Moore comes out of his cell and the two are seen arguing as other inmates look on, according to Queen City News.

After some time of arguing, Creighton stood up, took off his socks, returned to Moore and hugged him. The two began to fight, and other inmates jumped in. Moore was taken down, and when he was on the ground, he was hit repeatedly in the head with his hands and feet. The beating unfolded over 25 seconds.

Creighton was charged with third-degree assault and battery. Bailey is accused of inciting other inmates to disobey police orders. He was also charged with inciting prisoners to riot, arson, intentionally damaging the court or prison, and carrying a weapon by a prisoner.
