The Oscars need a new category for false claims of racism

Lately everyone is making false accusations of racism.

That would be the only defense against LA City Council president Marqueece Harris-Dawson, falsely, being pulled over by the police for being black.

As the California Post reported, Harris-Dawson was pulled over for a moving violation on school grounds — just like everyone else.

He obviously tried to get out of the ticket.

It seems everyone needs a victim story in politics these days – but Harris-Dawson’s is all melodrama.

The Los Angeles Police Protective League even said Harris-Dawson deserved an Oscar for her performance.

If so, he will have to beat a field full of nominees.

Xavier Becerra says the University of Southern California and ABC-7 are racist for excluding him and other “candidates of color” from next week’s gubernatorial debate.

Debate organizers use criteria such as polling data and fundraising success to determine who is eligible.

Becerra, a former state attorney general and Cabinet secretary, consistently polls in the low single digits. So did former LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and school superintendent Tony Thurmond.

So did former state governor Betty Yee, although she did well among the delegates at the recent Democratic Party convention.

One could argue that more people should have been included, especially since the race is so close, and so early.

But racism?

We’re talking about a college campus and a media organization, about two of the most politically correct institutions you can think of.

And how do we make Gavin Newsom’s latest claim of racism?

When the manager of Medicare Dr. Oz appeared in LA and said there is rampant fraud in the hospice industry, which is rampant in the Armenian city area, the outgoing governor filed a civil rights complaint.

But as the California Post reported, Van Nuys Boulevard is home to 137 hospices, out of 500 that operate in the area.

Shockingly, 89 of them are found in the same structure – on paper.

Many of these make millions for the government – but they don’t seem to exist.

It is not racist to expose fraud and corruption – although it is not reserved for a particular community.

Sadly, when it comes to defrauding California taxpayers, fraud is an equal opportunity business.

But the claim of “discrimination” just hides bad behavior that hurts the most vulnerable Californians.

Most of the time it’s just an act – and it doesn’t please the voters anymore.
