At the time, McMillan was sitting next to host Yonna Jay. After commenting, Yonna looked shocked and closed her mouth before asking, “Can he say that?”

This moment was quickly noticed on the Internet, clips were reposted on many forums.

Shortly after the video went viral, McMillan addressed the situation on Instagram. He wrote, “Yesterday when I was broadcasting live I used a word I shouldn’t have. There is no excuse for what I said. I am very sorry for speaking without thinking and I will do better.”

On Thursday night, the Carolina Panthers shared photos of McMillan attending the 15th annual NFL Honors. Bryant later cited the post, writing, “My n****” amid the ongoing controversy.
