Sophie Turner Injured, Tomb Raider Production Paused

Sophie Turner is recovering from an unspecified injury, leading to a temporary halt in production of the Prime Video series Tomb Raider TV show.
“Sophie Turner recently suffered a minor injury,” Amazon MGM Studios said in a statement sent to Deadline on Sunday, March 29. “As a precaution, production has paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible.”
Turner, 30, plays archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft in the new TV adaptation based on Tomb Raider video game series. The series is produced by Fleabag the creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
“I’m thrilled to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this incredible creative team,” Waller-Bridge said in a September 2025 statement announcing Turner’s casting. “It’s not often you do a show of this scale with a character you’ve grown to love. Everyone on board has a deep love for Lara and is just as fierce, brave, and funny as she is. Get out your gear… Croft is coming…”
“I’m really excited to play Lara Croft,” added Turner. “He is a great character, who means a lot to many – and I am giving everything I have. Angelina [Jolie] again Alicia [Vikander] with their powerful performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. I can’t wait for you to see what we cook.”
Tomb Raider He started filming in January and will be acting again Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs again Martin Bobb-Semple.
In a January appearance on SiriusXM The Julia Cunningham ShowTurner opened up about how he prepared for the shoot.
“We’ve been training eight hours a day, five days a week, since February last year, so it’s been a lot,” said the actor.

Jay Maidment/PrimeHe continued, “I learned that I have a chronic back problem, but I also realized that it is very easy to build muscle if you have worked out in your life, which I have never had. It took me months and months and months to get in good shape, that’s what I learned.”
Turner also talked about how her iconic role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones he did little to help her prepare for her new role.
“I was a cool queen who didn’t have to do that,” she said of playing Sansa. “I got hit too, not the one hitting. So, it’s really good to learn how to throw a punch instead of just catching it.”
