Savannah Guthrie Speaks Out, Looking to God Amid Mother Nancy’s Disappearance

“We believe in prayer. we believe in words raised in unity, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness. we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him,” Savannah, 54, wrote on Instagram on Monday, February 2, alongside a photo that read, Please Pray. “Thank you for lifting up your prayers and ours for our beloved mother, our dear Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. lift up your prayers with us and believe with us that you will be lifted up by them at this time.”
He continued with the Bible verse, he wrote: “We need you, ‘whose hearts are fixed, those who trust in Jehovah, he will keep them in complete peace.’ Isaiah’s eternal verse for all of us.”
He ended his message with a plea, “Bring him home.”
On Sunday, February 1, news broke that Nancy, 84, was reported missing in Arizona when a family member called 911. He was last seen on Saturday, January 31.
“We can confirm that this is a missing persons case, and the family is cooperating with local law enforcement,” the Guthrie family – including Savannah, 54, brother. Cameron Guthrie and sister Annie Guthrie – said the statement to NBC News on Monday, February 2.
The family added that they are grateful for the “communications, thoughts and prayers” they have received and urged anyone with relevant information about Nancy’s disappearance to contact authorities.
At a press conference Monday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nano said a friend of Nancy’s church saw that she was not at the service and called one of her children, who she shared with her late husband Charles Guthrie.
The friend then went to Nancy’s house and demanded before realizing, “We need some help.”
Authorities also shared that Nancy “didn’t walk alone,” adding that her home was considered a crime scene.
“He could not walk 50 meters by himself,” they added.
Nano added that foul play cannot be “ruled out” and noted, “We will canvass that area, maybe there is a player.” [that’s] seen all around. Much work remains to be done. We have no indications that the public is at risk.”
When asked if Savannah was threatened during the disappearance, Nano said Today The host has spoken with law enforcement and is currently in Arizona under security protection.
“He has a security team that has been communicating with us throughout the night,” he said. “We won’t rule out any angles for sure, but right now, right now, we don’t know anything like that.”
Savannah wasn’t there Today on Monday during her mother’s disappearance.
“We want to better understand the personal story that is deep in us,” his partner Craig Melvin said. “Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother, has been reported missing in Arizona.”

Melvin, 46, and cohost Sheinelle Joneswho filled in Savannah, then shared a statement from the TV personality.
“On behalf of our family, I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” Savannah’s statement said. “For now, we are focused on the safe return of our beloved mother.
Later, Jenna Bush HageHe got emotional when he talked about Nancy’s disappearance Today With Jenna & Sheinelle.
“We have to start the program on something that affects us this morning,” Bush Hager, 44, said Monday. “Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother and loved one here, has been reported missing in Arizona.”
After reading Savannah’s statement, Bush Hager added, “We love Nancy, I know her personally.”
Bush Hager said Nancy “takes daily medication” she needs “to survive” and may be “off her meds” right now.
“We are thinking of our dear, beloved Savannah and her entire family right now,” Bush Hager continued. “Our prayers obviously go out to Savannah.”
