Ryan Lochte’s Ex Kayla Reid Gives Divorce Update: ‘There’s No Good Place’

Kayla Rae Reid ready to share a glimpse of her new reality after breaking up with her estranged husband Ryan Lochte.
“Obviously, we’re not in a good place,” Reid, 34, said People in a statement published on Wednesday, February 4. “I really pray that he will be the father our children deserve.”
In June 2025, Reid announced that he was the one filing for divorce from Lochte, 41, after seven years of marriage. The exes share Caiden, 8, Liv, 6, and Georgia, 2.
At this stage of their separation, Reid says she is “the same parent” as the former Olympian, but they are “trying to work together a little bit.”
“I wish her the best,” he added before sharing an update on the divorce proceedings. “It may be a long road. I would like to get a divorce.”
Us Weekly contacted Lochte’s attorney for comment.
Last month, Lochte moved to a new home and his girlfriend, Molly Gillihan. At that time, the Olympic swimmer told People that he was proud of the work he had done in the past year, including “going to rehab, rededicating my life to Christ, going to therapy and making changes that put my children first.”
Although Reid did not comment on Lochte’s new relationship, the real estate agent confirmed that he prefers to remain single.

Hosted by Kayla Rae Reid“I focus on my children and build a life that I think about our future,” he said. “[The kids are] doing OK. They have a great community of friends and a great school. Obviously they have their little problems, and they have their confusion because they wonder what’s going on.”
At the beginning of the year, Reid and his close friend Caroline Lunny launched a new podcast titled “The season of return.”
The couple hopes to release weekly episodes featuring “raw, real and intense conversations.”
“We were like, ‘How can we do a program to encourage women to show them that underdogs are not failures?'” Reid explained. “Redemption and control of your life, transformation, is truly a gift from God. So why not share that with other people as we learn along the way?”
While fans will have to watch to see how much Reid talks about her private life, the mother of three has shared her thoughts and mindset as she navigates the new chapter.
In October 2025, Reid re-introduced himself social networkssaying, “I’m currently going through a complicated divorce, and let me tell you – divorce can feel like it’s on hold in the long run. I’m using this time of year to rebuild, rediscover who I am and chase my dreams with clarity and courage.”
In a recent interview, Reid said she can’t help but miss the woman she was before her marriage ended.
“I respect the woman I used to be. Obviously, I’m proud of who I am and what I’ve overcome and all that, but I’d like to get bits and pieces of her back,” she said. “I look back, and I say, ‘Oh my gosh, this year, I can’t believe what I accomplished.’ I’ve said it a thousand times, but I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have my girlfriends and my family. They carried me on their backs this past year.”
