Robert Duvallknown for his powerful acting in The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The network moreover, he died at the age of 95.
“Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, my dear friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time,” Duvall’s wife, Luciana Pedrazaannounced on Facebook on Monday, February 16. “Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort.”
The statement continued, “On earth, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, director, storyteller. To me, he was everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, good food, and hosting. In all of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and the true human spirit they represented. In doing so, he gives us a huge thank you for Bob’s many years of support. And for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate.” the memories he left behind.”
Fans of the actor expressed their condolences to the family in the comments section of the post.
“Both of my children are named after his character The Lonely Dove. My daughter’s middle name is Augusta and my son’s is McRae. He really was one of the good guys. God bless you and your family,” commented one under this article, while a second said, “He will continue his work, legends like Robert don’t die because they leave behind.”
“Rest in peace, dear man. A great tribute. He put every character to shame with mastery. What greater gift could he give than to inspire a filmmaker to make great films,” said a third person, while a fourth wrote, “One of the greats.” The Godfather it is not The Godfather except Tom Hagen.”
In the months leading up to his death, Duvall shared a video on Facebook sending a message to his fans about the holidays.
“To all my fans, have a happy Thanksgiving and a great year ahead. God bless you,” he said in the November 2025 clip.
Duvall made his final two appearances in 2022 Hustle again Blue Eye. His list of impressive accolades included roles in To Kill A Mockingbird (1962), The Lonely Dove (1989) and Merciful Tenders (1983), which earned him his first Academy Award. (The actor received a total of seven Oscar nominations throughout his career.)
As for his proudest role, Duvall pointed to the miniseries The Lonely Dove in which he played with Captain Augustus “Gus” McCrae accompanying him Tommy Lee Jones‘ Captain Woodrow F. Call.
“Yeah, there’s something I want to forget, but there’s something I feel good about,” Duvall told USA Today in 2021. “I would say that probably the one that people responded to the most, and that I remember with the greatest fondness, was the services. The Lonely Dove. Western is our brand in the United States of America. The English have Shakespeare, the French have Molière, the Russians have Chekhov, but we also have the West.”
Duvall is survived by Pedraza, whom he married in 2005, and had no children.
