It was very difficult and emotional in ways I wasn’t prepared for. Some days I feel good and strong. And some days it’s hard to even leave the house.”
Bates admitted that he had trouble moving on from Clark’s infidelity.
“I want to say thank you though, the love, prayers and messages I’ve received mean more than I can explain. “I’m getting ready to go to my first four day clinic. In her lengthy social media post, Bates explained what inspired her decision to fight for her relationship.
“Being a mom to Hailey and Harvey and getting little bits of normal life back has been a huge foundation for me. “I don’t know how much I’m going to share as I go through all of this or what it’s going to look like, but I wanted to say thank you for the kindness and the kindness you’ve shown me. There is no excuse for what I did,” he wrote on Instagram in January. “This was my failure and my responsibility alone. I know words don’t begin to express the damage I caused or the deep pain I brought into his life, but I am truly sorry.”
Clark stressed the importance of his “accountability” for his mistake.
“I apologize for the pain, humiliation and betrayal I caused my wife with my decisions,” he added. “I understand that an apology does not fix what I have broken and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for.”
He concluded by saying: “I take responsibility for getting help and doing the work to change and become an honest and trustworthy man, no matter where it is. [the] the result. I am asking for privacy and kindness from Katie as she processes this in her own time.”
