‘Reacher’ star Alan Ritchson’s row with neighbor could lead to court case despite investigation closed

“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson could still face a legal battle with his neighbor over their explosive fight – despite authorities closing the investigation.

Celebrity criminal defense attorney and founder of Zuckerman Legal Group, Seth J. Zuckerman, spoke exclusively to Page Six after authorities ruled that the actor will not face criminal charges after defending himself in his Tennessee altercation with Ronnie Taylor.

“It’s certainly possible that his neighbor will file a civil lawsuit against him for his medical expenses and pain and suffering, as well as possible punitive damages,” Zuckerman said.

“Despite the fact that the police announced that Ritchson was acting in self-defense, a civil case can be opened because it requires little evidence – a preponderance of the evidence – and a criminal case requires it without a doubt,” he added.

The lawyer noted that the law enforcement’s decision not to pursue criminal charges does not preclude a civil case.

“However, if the victim is found partially at fault, which is likely the case here, the potential compensation will be reduced,” Zuckerman noted, adding, “Ritchson could file claims against the neighbors, but it doesn’t appear that Ritchson was harmed in any way.”

Bryan M. Sullivan, a partner at Early Sullivan Wright Gizer & McRae LLP, believes Ritchson and Taylor can agree to protective orders.

“In America, anybody can sue anybody,” Sullivan said. “The neighbor can sue him for assault and battery, but, based on what I’ve read, Alan has a strong guarantee to defend and protect his children, and Alan can also sue the neighbor for assault and battery.

Los Angeles-based attorney Gregory Doll believes it is “possible” that Taylor will pursue a civil lawsuit against Ritchson.

“In general, the chances of a damages case being opened are very high. … But I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some letters behind the scenes that claim to be written by a lawyer seeking compensation for Taylor’s injuries and emotional distress,” said Doll.

“Whether that case makes it to court is anyone’s guess, but given that Ritchson’s actions were heinous — in my rightful view — I suspect he’ll be hearing from a lawyer soon,” he added.

This weekend, Ritchson, 43, was seen arguing with Taylor on their street in Brentwood, Tenn.

The row over Ritchson’s loud motorbike was captured on horrifying body camera footage which shows the Hollywood star punching Taylor in the head multiple times. Two young boys – believed to be Ritchson’s sons – were seen standing nearby as the scuffle continued.

Police closed the case after ruling that Ritchson was acting in self-defense

“After reviewing the available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities have determined that no charges will be filed. Mr. Ritchson’s actions were determined to be self-defense,” Brentwood Police Captain Steven Pepin told The Hollywood Reporter.

Pepin also confirmed that Ritchson declined to press charges against Taylor.

On Wednesday, Ritchson shared that he is back on “Reacher” to wrap filming for Season 4.

“I’m glad to be back in the booth after such a week!” he wrote in an Instagram post. “That’s my post-production wrap – #Reacher Season 4.”

“This is, without a doubt, our busiest season yet. I think we’ve hit our stride. We’re firing on all cylinders… like,” he added.

Amazon Prime and Ritchson did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
