Saturday Today an anchor Peter Alexander she left her role on the NBC news show to spend more time with her family.
“This morning I’m filled with pride and gratitude. I’ve had the best experience in 22 years with NBC News,” Alexander said during the March 2026 broadcast. “I couldn’t be more thankful … for the leaders and mentors here who have believed in me and given me more opportunities than I could have ever dreamed of.”

“It’s really fun,” he continued. “But because I live in Washington, [D.C.]it is also a journey. I have been away from home more than 80 nights in the last seven months, [and] more than 200 Friday nights away from my family in the last seven years.”
He thanked the network for “undoubtedly the most exciting years” of his career, ending his statement by adding, “Thank you for your trust and confidence.”
Several NBC personalities, including his partner Laura Jarrett, shared their love for Alexander following his announcement.
“Peter, we love you, we’ll miss you,” she said, enraptured. “We laughed so much we want to cry with you, we learned from you and we are not the only ones.”

Who is Peter Alexander?
Peter Alexander is a news anchor who started his national career at NBC News in 2012 after a few gigs at local news stations.
Initially, he was hired as an NBC News White House correspondent, a role he held on and off during his time at NBC, before being named Saturday Today in October 2018.
Who Is Peter Alexander’s Wife?
Peter Alexander married Alison Starling in 2012. He is also a journalist, appearing on weekday radio for WJLA-TV in Washington, DC from August 2003 to November 2023.

At the time of his announcement in March 2026, Peter Alexander explained that his family was the reason for his departure.
“In this small window before my daughters lose interest in living with me [and] It’s already happening so fast, I’m eager to strike a better balance between my personal and professional life,” he explained.[I want] to challenge yourself with something new. I’m happy because I was taught, ‘Family first, the rest is details.’”
