Perez Hilton Breaks 21-Day Hospital Stay With Sepsis

Perez Hilton he opens up about why he was in the hospital after recent photos that caused concern for his health.
“My stupidity put me in the hospital for 21 days and this is the most important video I’ve ever shared,” Hilton, 48, began in a Monday, March 23, YouTube video. “It was the worst and best thing that ever happened to me.”
Hilton explained that she had a fever “for a week” before she was hospitalized and took medication. However, Hilton noted that he “didn’t take any” of his medication, and developed an ulcer, perforation and sepsis.
“People are dying of sepsis,” Hilton said through tears. “The day before I was admitted to the hospital, I had a lot of pain in my stomach, and I said, ‘This is strange, but it will pass.’ The next morning, I couldn’t walk. I had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital.”
Hilton expressed that she was “very grateful” for the care she received at the hospital, noting that she stayed there for 21 days and felt like she knew “everybody” when she left. He recalled that he underwent several tests in the first few days because it was said that the doctors “couldn’t find” where the puncture was.
“Finally, after five days, I ended up having a laparoscopic surgery,” he said. “Surgery where they didn’t cut it, but they did this miraculously … to literally turn all my organs, try to get a puncture first, and then after they probed all my organs, wash me because I had so many infections in there. So many infections.”

Hilton had fluid in her lungs that needed to be drained, while she “underwent another major procedure.” Although doctors are pulling “a lot of infection,” Hilton said “sepsis is still active.”
“My body kept cracking,” he added, noting that his heart was “out of control.”
She then developed another infection at the hospital, which Hilton said was “common.” After two weeks, Hilton was only receiving food through an IV. When he was able to start eating, Hilton said it was “hard on the body.” He was filled with bitterness when he remembered suffering from accidents in bed and asking for help from the nurses.
“It was a slow process. I mean, two weeks of being sick and then another week of getting better before I was released. The last week was hell, because I had already been in the hospital for two weeks at that point. I was like, ‘I want to go home. I want to be with my kids,'” Hilton said, before informing the doctors.
“One of the hardest things was when they put this NG tube in me. Having this big tube going from your nose to your stomach, sucking up bile, infection. I had that in me for days. Not once, but twice in the first week … I have a foley catheter, where they put a balloon in your bladder. So that was powerful. I had severe weakness due to long expiration. Weight and now that I’m home, I’m not even 100 percent in the hospital,” he continued. Hilton, pointing to the PICC line that was inserted into the arm.
Now, Hilton is treated with an IV, which “works much better than pills.” He then explained that he has no intention of returning to the hospital, calling it “a done deal”. Hilton also shared that she has plans to change her daily habits, including getting more sleep at night and having dinner with her kids and mom.
“I have to thank my sister for everything, my sister is my angel. My sister lives in Los Angeles, but she flew here twice and was here most of the time, even though she has a young daughter and a husband and a life in Los Angeles.”
