Nicola Peltz recreates Keira Knightley’s original 2003 ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ dress
Nicola Peltz found a piece of buried treasure in her closet.
The actress, 31, stepped out this week in the same off-the-shoulder Valentino top Keira Knightley wore to the premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” at Disneyland in 2003 — one of the most memorable Y2K red carpet moments in Hollywood history.
Knightley was just 18 when she paired the ab-baring piece with low-slung bootcut jeans and a Tahitian pearl choker that nodded to the film’s setting, cementing her as one of the era’s definitive style stars.
Before Knightley took it to Disneyland, Gisele Bündchen wore the top while closing Valentino’s 2003 runway show; it was written on a belt tied around the waist.
Peltz, meanwhile, sported a vintage top on Instagram’s Day’s page, kissing her husband Brooklyn Beckham, 26.
“I love you more every day!! lucky to be able to call you my forever valentine,” she wrote.
Two days later, she wore the piece again — this time with low-rise boot-cut jeans, matching Knightley’s original style — for a dinner date at Vespertine in Culver City, Calif. The couple left the store hand in hand, with Beckham wearing a rose gold Patek Philippe watch worth around $300,000 and holding up two vintage bottles for more than $3. $1,000 per item.
In a 2024 interview with the Times, Knightley, now 40, hinted at a Y2K-style revival.
“It was all about my midriff,” he said, recalling the time he saw London’s youngsters wearing their old uniforms. “I don’t have a midriff anymore, so it doesn’t stick out.”
This week’s dinner comes amid an ongoing and public feud between Beckham and his famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham. In January, the aspiring chef posted a six-page statement on Instagram declaring that he had no desire to reconcile with his family, accusing his parents of trying to “ruin” his marriage and controlling the media narrative.
Among her claims, Beckham alleges that her mother canceled making Peltz’s wedding dress “at the eleventh hour” ahead of their April 2022 wedding in Palm Beach, Fla.
Finally, Peltz walked down the aisle in a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown — a unique piece from the same Italian house that made her date night staple, but proof that the brand has been a longtime favorite.
