He may not be a household name to some Americans and football fans. He spoke to those who asked who he was and what he was performing at this event.
“I’m a songwriter who grew up, and still lives in Jackson County, Georgia, his goal in the music business was to sell out a local theater a few miles from my house and somehow make a living writing songs,” he said in a statement.
“I’m a recovering addict with a history of all the bad choices that come with it. I’m not proud of those choices, but I’m proud of the choices I made to live a different life.
“I share my story through my music in hopes that it can help and inspire others in their darkest hour. I am a Christian, and I love our country despite its faults. I have dedicated part of my life to the men and women who fight for it and the families of those who give their lives for it. Above all, I am a proud husband and father of three.”

Gilbert added that he wants to sing for his children and it has been more than 20 years since a country singer has been asked to perform at halftime of the Super Bowl.
“We’re celebrating 250 years as a country, and it’s been over 20 years since a country singer was asked to play the Super Bowl halftime show. I respect that some people may see this differently, but I’m not playing this show to be divisive. I was given this opportunity and I thought my kids were watching their dad play at halftime during the biggest game I’ve ever done in American football.
“The way I treat people has no conditions depending on what our differences may be. I believe that “united we stand, divided we fall,” and my prayer for our country is that we unite.”
He said he was looking forward to making a historic show on Sunday.
Turning Point USA said the show will air live on YouTube, X and Rumble in addition to other conservative news channels.

The “All-American Halftime Show” is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. ET on Feb. 8 and will feature artists including Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett, according to the nonprofit. (Turning Point USA)
Andrew Kolvet, a spokesperson for TPUSA, previously told Fox News Digital that the broadcast will offer families a unique viewing option that will provide the viewer with an immersive and powerful experience.

“The ‘All-American Halftime Show’ is an opportunity for all Americans to enjoy a short show without an agenda other than to celebrate faith, family and freedom,” Kolvet said. “We are tired of watching the amazing game they are about to do. We know millions across the country will be watching.”
