Mother Shot to Death Lying Next to Son and Husband During Home Attack

A woman was shot and killed while lying in bed next to her 7-year-old child and husband during a home invasion, and the deceased suspect is expected to plead guilty.
Irah Sok was killed on August 19, 2022, when his home in Washington state was allegedly targeted Christopher Johnson.
Johnson, 24, and two of his accomplices entered the house at around 03:00, shot Sok in the head as he slept soundly next to his son and husband, according to the report. the Herald of Everett. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said during the attack, Sok’s husband was forced to knock down the burglars and zip-tied them.
The robbers “ransacked the victim’s property and stole thousands of dollars worth of luxury items” before fleeing the scene. Sok’s husband then escaped and got help. Meanwhile, the little boy was not injured during the incident.
Johnson has pleaded guilty to multiple armed robberies that targeted homes of Asian Americans in Washington that occurred in the spring and summer of 2022, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington.
The office said on Monday, February 2, Johnson is expected to plead guilty to the murder charge in Snohomish County Superior Court in connection with Sok’s death.
US attorneys said they believed Johnson was one of the leaders of a criminal organization that carried out “acts of violence, robbery, kidnapping and burglary” throughout Washington state, Arizona and elsewhere, according to the lawsuit reviewed by Law & Crime. The lawsuit also said the group targeted Asian families because they believed they were “weak.”
It was also suspected that Johnson and his co-defendants would research potential marks on social media when looking at which houses they should target. Most of the home invasions took place in the middle of the night, and the attackers falsely claimed to be members of law enforcement when they entered homes.
“They wore masks and used zip ties to hold the victims – including small children [9 years old]. “They will steal whatever valuables they can from these houses,” prosecutors said, according to the source.
Johnson already pleaded guilty to the RICO charges during a Feb. 2 arraignment, according to the office. He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 6.
Meanwhile, state records indicate that he is expected to plead guilty to manslaughter in state court in connection with Sok’s death during a hearing on February 17.
Sok was based in the Everett, Washington area, and worked as a photographer, specializing in maternity and newborn photography. “His photography has impacted so many in our community and we will forever cherish the memories he gave us,” a GoFundMe page was set up after his death.
