Mikayla and Jace raised eyebrows after she revealed she was just 16 when she met Jace, who was 21 at the time. Mikayla revealed on TikTok in 2021 that she found out she was pregnant “after less than a month of knowing” Jace.
“I decided to keep the baby, I told her and she was 110 percent supportive and we went from there,” she wrote at the time.
The couple welcomed four children before experiencing intimacy issues during season 3 of Mormon Wives while Mikayla was dealing with past sexual abuse. Problems continued in season 4 – which premiered in March 2026 – leading to Mikayla leaving their shared home.
“I think it’s tricky in this area, because I need a lot of support from him in everything,” Mikayla exclusively told Us Weekly in March 2026, reflecting on where she and Jace stand. “And it’s one of those things that we’re still going through, and it still has its ups and it still has its downs.”
Along with the military crisis, Mikayla was looking for answers to her chronic health problems.
“Unfortunately, it’s like I’m stuck in this place, my life is beyond my control,” Mikhayla explained to us. “I feel like I can’t control anything else in my life once that’s under control. So it’s just a matter of time and patience. I think it’s something we’re still working on, and it’s going to take a while.”

Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry’s marriage was revealed Secret Lives of Mormon Wiveswhich premiered in September 2024. Mikayla later said on Instagram that Jace was fired from her job after the show aired. (According to LinkedIn, Jace was Waffle Love’s project manager until August 2024.)
Eventually Jace became more involved on camera – and eventually joined DadTok.

Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry announced in February 2025 that they were expecting their fourth child. Their daughter Lottie arrived later that year.

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives talked about Mikayla Matthews’ ongoing health issues, which contributed to intimacy issues. Season 4 showed the couple struggling to get over how his traumatic past affected their relationship.
“I think it’s hard anytime you talk about sex and intimacy,” Mikayla told Jace on the show. “I feel like it’s hard for me because again, my nervous system is on fight or flight, and I’m already tired. My bucket is full.”
Jace urged Mikayla to fight for their marriage, adding, “I know, but to me, it seems like the solution to that would be to commit to treating traumatized people until you get to a point where it won’t cause your nervous system to go haywire.”
After confirming their split on screen, Mikayla played coy Us about whether they were still living together.
“I mean, we’re filming right now, obviously, so I can’t give too much away,” Mikayla said. Us. “I have to see, is it my house that’s sick? Is it Utah that’s sick? And so I feel like there’s a lot of that frustration that’s weighing on me right now, like, a lot of anxiety and stress that way, ‘OK, do I have to remove myself from my home, from my marriage, from the government so what do I do, what do I do?’ I think that’s still something I’m still very focused on.”
