Mormon Wives’ Layla Taylor Confirms Split From Boyfriend Mason McWhorter
Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Layla Taylor she confirmed in a tearful TikTok video that she is “no longer” with her boyfriend Mason McWhorter.
“I have never come to my page to cry, so this is very difficult for me to do,” Layla, 24, admitted to her TikTok followers on Saturday, February 7.
The reality star felt it was important to “set the record straight” because she was “already seeing false comments” about the breakup. After confirming that the split was “still fresh,” Layla insisted there was “no bad blood” between the former couple.
“I really wish and want the best for Mason. Things were not going well,” he explained. “I think we were in two different places right now. He felt that in order to grow up, he had to be alone. And I respect his decision, and I really hope he gets what he wants in life.”
Layla said her breakup with Mason was very difficult because she became close to her two sons, Ollie and Maxwell, after they started dating last summer. (Layla shares her sons with her ex-husband Clayton Wessel.)
“Mason has been a big part of my life and my boys’ life for almost a year now,” she admitted. “And we’ve been through a lot this past year, to be honest. But I’m thankful for everything, and I’m thankful that you’ve been a part of my life for so long.”
When she cried again, Layla admitted, “I just thought I was going to find the family I wanted so badly.”
Layla thanked her fans for “protecting” her, though she also encouraged everyone to be “nice and kind” to Mason.
“I still love him very much and I only wish him the best,” he concluded.
In November, Layla opened a special Us Weekly about where things stand with Mason as it was admitted that he was “very angry [her] ex-husband and that marriage.”
“Right now, I’m afraid of marriage but I want to get to know someone before I think about it,” she said. Us. “I’m happy and content with where Mason and I are. And if somehow it does, then we’ll see.”
Many The Secret Lives of Mormons Live viewers immediately recognized Mason when he went public with the Hulu star last year as he is the brother of Layla’s ex. Chase McWhorter.
“We just laugh about it. I know it’s not the best situation, dating brothers, but sometimes life gives you lemons,” said Layla. Us in November. “You have to make lemonade and let it be what it is. Meanwhile, Layla confirmed that she and Mason are “still together” and that “things [were] it’s going very well” in their relationship.
“I’m really happy,” he said at the time. “He’s just my best friend, I feel like he and I get along very well. We have a lot in common and our relationship seems natural and not forced. I don’t have to pretend to be someone I’m not with.”

Currently, Us found out in December that some important details of Layla’s divorce had been finalized. A Utah judge ruled that Layla and her ex-husband Clayton will share joint legal and physical custody of their two children, while neither party was awarded child support.
Layla and Clayton were married for about three years. Layla first filed for divorce in January 2024, although the court dismissed the case in March. He re-filed on February 20, 2025.
