MLB News: Aaron Judge makes headlines Team USA fills World Baseball Classic roster

Team USA is sending a full roster to this year’s World Baseball Classic as it looks to avenge its 2023 loss to Team Japan in the finals.

Although much of the lineup has changed, manager Mark DeRosa returns to the dugout for a second consecutive World Baseball Classic. Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout was the team’s captain in 2023, but is not on the roster due to insurance issues.

DeRosa named New York Yankees star Aaron Judge as the captain of Team America.

Team USA has four MVP winners on its team: Judge is the AL MVP three times, Bryce Harper is the NL MVP two times, Paul Goldschmidt is the NL MVP, and Clayton Kershaw is the MVP. On the pitching staff, they have three Cy Young winners: Kershaw is a three-time NL Cy Young winner, Tarik Skubal is a two-time Cy Young winner, and Paul Skenes has won the award once.

Team USA’s roster consists of 30 players, including 65 All-Star selections, 20 Silver Sluggers and 12 Gold Gloves.
