Meryl Streep Waves at the Devil Wears Prada in a Cerulean Sweater

Meryl Streep he prepares himself The Devil Wears Prada 2 to start.
Streep, 76, looked dapper in a blue cable knit sweater while appearing in The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday, April 2. While sitting down with Colbert, 61, the actress, who plays Miranda Priestly in the film, rocked a custom ensemble made by J. Crew.
She completed the look with blue sunglasses, silver hoop earrings and a black leather watch.
During the episode, Streep gave fans an inside look at what to expect from the movie, which premieres on May 1. “It’s been 20 years and Andrea’s gone and done a great job in journalism,” explains Anne Hathaway’s character, Andy Sachs.
“At the beginning of the film, all media is under siege by our new digital rulers,” he continued. “So he’s out of a job … and circumstances lead him to this time where he’s back on the Runway [magazine]. I [Miranda Priestly] he didn’t know he was hired.”
For the uninitiated, Streep’s blue sweater is iconic because of the conversation between Miranda and Andy in the first film, which premiered in 2006.
At the time, the Runway editors were arguing about Andy’s clothing accessories.

“You think this has nothing to do with you,” Miranda said as she took a picture of Andy’s dress. “You go to your closet and you choose, I don’t know, that blue sweater, for example, because you’re trying to tell the world that you take yourself very seriously, that you care about what you put on your back, but what you don’t know is that that sweater is not just blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s actually ceran.
In July 2025, Hathaway revived the iconic color while filming the sequel. At the time, he took to TikTok wearing a sweater that was almost identical to the one Andy wore in the first film. He jumped into the frame while brushing his teeth. She gave the camera a soft smile and pushed her blonde hair to one side of her head and wore no makeup.
“Go to work #dwp2,” she captioned the post. His famous friends and fans shared their happiness in the comments section.
“Icon,” Ashley Benson she wrote, while one of her followers added, “YOU’RE WEARING THAT GREEN JACKET!!!” One fan quoted Streep, “It’s not just blue, it’s not green, it’s not lapis. It’s actually cerulean ✨.”
