Amazon is expanding its reach virtual assistant for health care, Health AIthe company said on Tuesday. This feature was initially only available One Medical members, but will now be available to more customers on the Amazon app and website. Amazon’s Health AI can answer common healthcare questions and provide health guidance to people based on their health history, medications and medical conditions. For a more personalized answer, you can provide access to your medical records.
Other tasks that Health AI can help with include refilling a prescription through Amazon Pharmacy and connecting you with one-on-one doctors via video, in-person appointments or messaging.
Health AI is not the first a chatbot to provide health guidance. Amazon says Health AI will direct you to a human provider if it’s unsure of any clinical recommendations. If you need specialized treatment, Health AI allows you to connect with both the provider and the specialist.
Amazon Prime members interested in using Health AI will be eligible for a free introduction that allows you to connect with a One Medical provider for five free direct messaging care consultations. These services can be shared with family members if you have Amazon Family and Prime for Young Adults or Prime Access.
If you use Health AI beyond the first five visits, it costs $29 per telehealth session. If you plan to use more than that, you can purchase a One Medical membership for $99 per year. You can add up to five family members for $66 each year.
