Health AI is not the first a chatbot to provide health guidance. In January, OpenAI was launched ChatGPT Lifethat answers health questions in the same way, interprets lab results and connects to your Apple Health app and medical records with your permission. Anthropic similarly introduced Claude for Healthcare, which connects to Apple Health and can help you understand and plan for healthcare activities such as medical bills. an apple there are also rumors that he is working alone as an AI health coach or assistant.

(Disclosure: Ziff Davis, CNET’s parent company, in 2025 filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging that it infringed Ziff Davis’ copyrights in training and using its AI programs.)

There have been concerns about chatbots and their use in sensitive topics such as health advice, because going astray can cause harm. We always caution against submitting private, sensitive information to AI bots and take their advice with a grain of salt, as AI is known please. Double check with your provider about any health advice the AI chatbot gives you.

Amazon’s virtual assistant is said to be HIPAA compliant and intended only for medical support, not to replace a healthcare provider. Amazon says Health AI will direct you to a human provider if it’s unsure of any clinical recommendations. If you need specialized treatment, Health AI allows you to connect with both the provider and the specialist.

Amazon Prime members interested in using Health AI will be eligible for a free introduction that allows you to connect with a One Medical provider for five free direct messaging care consultations. These services can be shared with family members if you have Amazon Family and Prime for Young Adults or Prime Access.

If you use Health AI beyond the first five visits, it costs $29 per telehealth session. If you plan to use more than that, you can purchase a One Medical membership for $99 per year. You can add up to five family members for $66 each year.
