Iranian-American journalist, Masih Alinejad, called New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Saturday about his reaction to the US and Israel attacking Iran.

“To you Zohran Mamdani! You remained silent when we were faced with a massacre, when the killers of the Islamic Republic were sent here to New York to kill us, be silent now! STOP teaching us Iranians about silence,” Alinejad wrote on X. “I don’t feel safe in New York listening to someone like you, Mamdani, who sympathized with the Iranian regime for less than 0 20, who killed more than 3 20 Iranians, hours.”

Mamdani spoke about the strikes on Saturday in a statement he released on social media.

“Today’s military strikes in Iran – carried out by the United States and Israel – mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of violence. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new battlefield. The American people do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the crisis of affordability. They want peace,” he wrote.

Alinejad cited Mamdani’s words about “safety” in the city, saying “safety without justice” means nothing.

“The people of Iran want to be free. Where were you when they needed unity? New York is for people who oppose terrorism, not those who condone it,” Alinejad continued.

Alinejad was the target of an assassination plot in Iran in 2024, as a critic of the Iranian regime.

IRANIAN OPPONENT CALLS AMERICAN LEFT SILENCE IN DEADLY PROTEST

The Iranian-American journalist spoke to CNN’s Dana Bash on Sunday alongside Moj Mahdara, an Iranian-American businessman and founder of the Iranian Diaspora Collective.

Mahdara said Democrats need to get over their dislike of President Donald Trump while talking about the different opinions of party members.

“I think it’s important for the Democratic Party to wake up and get over the hate Donald TrumpPresident Trump, and their feelings about ongoing international conflicts. This is about national security. This is about what happens in life Middle East. This is about being a good neighbor, a good partner to the Gulf States and what their aspirations are,” he said.
