Music by Luigi Mangione and more: Books

Music medicine
I am disgusted and outraged by the new musical about the villainous killer, Luigi Mangione, coming to New York City this summer (“Staging Villain ‘Luigi,’ ” March 4).
The people who created this garbage are as corrupt and unfocused as Mangione. He’s a coward, a coward, a backdoor shooter who killed an honorable man. Mangione should not be celebrated but criticized and condemned for his murder of Brian Thompson.
I will boycott this rubbish and ask all intelligent people to do the same.

A cold, cold heart
Principal Shanesha White Bailey should be fired immediately for removing a shelter for stray cats during a major snowstorm in New York. (“He’s not the principal of cats,” March 1).
Aside from his cruel act of allowing elderly cats to be buried in the snow, he sent a message to impressionable young minds that being callous and cruel to others is acceptable, which is the last thing students should be taught.

Give back to NY drivers
As a New Yorker, I understand the city’s need to address congestion and improve transit, but congestion charges currently send most of the revenue to the MTA even though drivers pay tolls (“Judge upends conge$tion,” March 4).
New York commuters use the streets taxis, shuttle drivers, emergency vehicles and city buses rely on every day. After winter storms, potholes and damaged roads remind drivers that road infrastructure is also aging.
If drivers contribute to congestion charges, it is only fair that part of the revenue is reinvested in the roads that those drivers rely on.

Anti-US education
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is right that taxpayers are tired of funding tuition at schools that educate the military (“Ban military from colleges,” March 2).
I am a veteran of the US Navy and have seen the destruction of these schools for decades. Hegseth is right when he says that “for decades, the Ivy League and other similar institutions have been subsidizing American taxpayer dollars to become factories of outrage and contempt for the American military.”

Duties of DAs
A father has been convicted of murder in Georgia for buying a gun for his son, the alleged school shooter (“‘Killer gun’ dad,” March 4).
Would that standard apply to judges and district attorneys in other states? In Virginia, a judge and DA let a felon with 30 previous convictions walk free. He then proceeded to kill the mother while the judge and the DA went home and slept soundly in their beds.
This must end. Judges, district attorneys, governors and politicians who protect these criminals should all be held accountable.

The gifts of Sedaka
Talents like singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka don’t come along every day (“Sedaka led the high life,” Cindy Adams, March 2).
Sedaka was not only gifted, he was a real man. His legacy includes many of his greatest hits. And no doubt, you will miss him dearly.
