Lil Poppa Dead: ‘Love and War’ Rapper Dies at 25

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office in Georgia confirmed on Wednesday, February 18, a statement to News4JAX that the singer was pronounced dead that morning.
The cause of death has not been disclosed, but is currently under investigation, the medical examiner told the media. .
Great Day Records CEO Caroline “Baroline” Diaz, who worked with Lil Poppa early in his career, took to social media on Wednesday to pay tribute to the late rapper.
“My little brother is gone,” Diaz wrote via X on Wednesday. “Poppa I love you so much. I’m so hurt. One of the first artists I had at Interscope. I&R’ed 4 of his projects. I’m so sad right now.”
A number of Lil Poppa’s fans also reacted to the news, with one writing, “Poppa tell me it’s not true.” Another replied, “You are not leaving me like this 😔 NO WAY.”

Lil Poppa was best known for his songs “Love & War,” “Mind Over Matter” and “HAPPY TEARS.” The singer started rapping at the age of 7 in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. In 2018, he wrote the song “Purple Hearts,” which was inspired by his real-life experience of surviving a shooting. The track finally got into the blood. That same year, Lil Poppa released his debut album, Under Investigation.
After the success of “Purple Hearts,” Lil Poppa signed a record deal with Interscope Records. Later it was signed to him Yes Gotti‘s Collective Music Group (CMG) in 2022. He went on to release several records including Blessed, I Guessed, Half Man Half Vamp, Hold That Thought again It’s Almost Normal Again.
Lil Poppa has previously expressed gratitude to his fans as they have been connected to his music over the years.
“Many people tell me that I have found them in very difficult times,” he said in an interview with 2021. Audiomack. “People say I got them out of certain situations, or stopped them from doing this or that. That means a lot.”
Lil Poppa continued, “That makes me realize that I have the power to change someone’s perspective on a situation.
He also opened up about why he is not afraid of being vulnerable on his routes.
“We face a lot every day, so we may feel like we’re in the worst situation, but we don’t even realize how much of a blessing some situations are,” the singer remembers. “Not everyone believes in the idea that everything happens for a reason. But even when we feel so cursed at times, we really can’t complain. It’s not that we can complain about it, because it could be worse.”
Earlier this month, Lil Poppa released his new single “Out Of Town Bae.” He dropped the official music video on Friday, February 13.

Lil Poppa has spent the last year on tour, and has a Birthday Bash concert scheduled for next month in New Orleans.
