Larry Birkhead Reveals Final Interview With Anna Nicole Smith

Larry Birkhead revealed the last thing he said Anna Nicole Smith before his tragic death.
“The last conversation I had with him was me pleading with him and telling him he’s in trouble,” Birkhead, 53, said on the Thursday, March 26, episode Bunny XoThe “Dumb Blonde” podcast. “I don’t know that I felt like he was going to be in trouble, I said, ‘If you love that kid, you better get out of there.'”
Birkhead met Smith while filming his reality show, The Anna Nicole Show. A model and a photographer fall in love quietly. Their relationship became public knowledge after Smith gave birth to her and Birkhead’s daughter Dannielynn in September 2006.
When Smith announced her pregnancy, she did not reveal that Birkhead was the father of her daughter. (He was later determined to be the father through a paternity test that was announced.)
After announcing her pregnancy, Smith moved to the Bahamas where she gave birth to her daughter. Birkhead shared Thursday that he tried to convince her to return to America.
“I didn’t think it was going to end well. Maybe part of me was trying to scare him at home to be honest,” he continued. “But there were plans we were going to meet when he got home.”
Smith, who left Dannielynn in the Bahamas, returned briefly to attend her late husband’s trial. J. Howard MarshallLegacy. (Smith was not listed in Marshall’s estate but was said to have verbally promised a portion of his estate upon his death.)
Birkhead said that his plans to meet with Smith were not successful, which led to a rift between the two. Despite not being in the best shape during his last season, Birkhead shared that his bond with Smith was strong.
“He separated many people in his life and just left them like that. There was something we had that was not always pleasant but it was something that connected us,” he said. “It didn’t matter that she was wearing a wedding dress saying she was getting married to someone else, it didn’t matter what happened and she didn’t say ‘Get lost. The numbers changed, the emails, all these things that happened … she found a way to call me, communicate and communicate with me.”
Five months after welcoming her daughter and the death of her son Daniel, Smith was found unresponsive in a hotel room in Hollywood, Florida. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Smith was 39 years old. The cause of his death was accidental drug use.
