Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones gave a powerful review of one of their own Today Show who takes care of Savannah Guthrie during the ongoing search for her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Savannah, anchored at 1:00 p.m. TodayHe has not been on the show since January 30 as the search for his 84-year-old mother continues. But Savannah visited the Today studios on Thursday (March 5) for the first time, leaving a huge impact on his colleagues and hosts.

Bush Hager couldn’t hold back the tears as he and Jones updated viewers on Savannah’s return The Today Show.

“Let’s just get into it, full disclosure, have a strong future this morning,” Jones said at the top of the show as he and Bush Hager took their seats.

“Savannah is back at her home here at 30 Rock in Studio 1A,” Bush Hager said as he seemed worried. “We saw him this morning and in his perfect way, he spoke to all of us, he hugged everyone in this room, the staff.”

Bush Hager, who is Savannah’s best friend, confirmed that he will return to the show at some point.

“He said he intends to return to this program even though it sounds like a very difficult thing to do,” said Bush Hager. “It’s his home and where he feels most loved. And he’s not so loved here. So we’re glad he’s home. I don’t know when exactly he’s coming back to the show. But he was there and that felt so good to hug him.”

Jones, who suffered her own tragedy as a contestant on the show when her husband died in 2025 of cancer, praised Savannah for taking the brave step of visiting the studio amid the ongoing investigation.

“I’m not smiling, but I feel proud of Savannah and I’m fighting for Savannah, and I know the strength that I can take to just come here and be among all of us,” Jones said, later adding, “I think that coming here and being able to be with us and being able to kiss, I think that’s a step, we know what I know, right? a step.”

Bush Hager shared that Savannah expressed her appreciation for the prayers and support she received from her colleagues and friends.

“He said yellow flowers and pins, all your prayers, you hear them, you depend on them,” commented Bush Hager. “He said—and he said this to me before during all of this—but his pastor said—and I think he didn’t mind me telling you this—he said, ‘You know, God is our last resort,’ and he said, ‘No, God has always been my first resort.'”

Spokesman for The Today Show said Savannah “stopped by the studio this morning to be with her TODAY co-stars” and “plans to return to the show,” according to People. However, “he is now focused on supporting his family and working to help Nancy at home.”

The Savannah anchor recently announced that her family will offer a $1 million reward for more information about the whereabouts of her missing mother.

“We still believe in a miracle. We still believe that he can come home. We also know that he may have been lost, he may have gone, he may have gone home to the king he loves, and he is dancing in heaven with his mother, his father, his beloved brother Pierce, and our father,” he said in an emotional video shared on social media.

“And if that’s the case, we’ll accept it. But we need to know where he is. We need him to come home.”

Today with Jenna & Sheinelle airs weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
