Jen Shah filed a lawsuit to serve a sentence in a Texas prison convicted of sex trafficking Ghislaine Maxwellpointing out that Maxwell showed “no remorse” for her late boyfriend Jeffrey Epstein’s victims.
“I had limited contact with him,” she said The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum, 52, told People in an interview published on Wednesday, April 1. “I chose that. I chose to distance myself.”
After pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, Shah served time in a prison camp in Bryan, Texas, where Maxwell, 64, was also charged with fraud. Elizabeth Holmes they were arrested again.
Shax described Maxwell’s “experience” in prison as “very different” to anything he or Holmes, 42, endured.
“[Maxwell] he’s treated very differently there,” Shah said. “I didn’t have much contact with him … he would come to talk to us or see him … He made it very clear, at least to me and Elizabeth, that there was no remorse there.”
The Bravo star continued, “Again, obviously I don’t know all the details of the case or anything but we know enough. [Epstein] The victims would be on TV and talk, he [showed] just ignore them completely. This was when they poured out their hearts in front of the Congress for the [Epstein Files] that he may be released.”
“To see that kind of behavior where there are real victims that you see and what they’ve been through, and to dismiss that, that didn’t sit well with me,” Shah added.
Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison following his sentencing in 2022 on charges of conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in unlawful sexual acts, conspiracy to transport minors to engage in unlawful sexual acts, transporting a child to engage in unlawful sexual acts, conspiracy to traffic in sex and trafficking in a minor. (Maxwell maintains his innocence and has publicly appealed to the President Donald Trump in peace.)
Shah insisted that he and Holmes “definitely” chose to distance themselves from Maxwell when they realized he had alleged disagreements with Epstein’s victims. (Epstein died by suicide at age 66 in August 2019 after being arrested on sex crime charges.)

Laura Cavanaugh/Getty Images“I feel there should be a level of remorse for the victims,” argued Shah. “And he made it very well known – at least to me and Elizabeth – that there was no remorse there. He said it clearly.”
Shah expressed concern about Maxwell’s treatment in prison, saying that the woman received rights that other prisoners could not access.
“[Maxwell] he was treated very well there. She got things that no one else would get, like private exercise sessions, special meals, bottled water,” Shah said. People. “Everybody saw it, and I know that because I worked on it [recreation] so I’ll have to clean things up. I was also asked for some equipment because he was going to work late at night.”
Shah continued, “There’s a process you have to follow to schedule your legal calls. He won’t have to go through the same process.”
In response to Shah’s allegations, said the spokesperson of the Bureau of Prisons People that its employees are “committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, impartiality, and professionalism in the operation of its institutions.”
“Staff are required to treat all inmates equally, in accordance with the law, policy, and regulations for the safety and security of the facility. Any deviation from this standard undermines public trust and the proper administration of justice,” the BOP statement read. “Violations of this policy are subject to a full range of disciplinary action, up to and including removal from state employment and possible criminal prosecution.”

Shah appears to have a good relationship with former Theranos CEO Holmes, who was found guilty of four counts of fraud and conspiracy to defraud investors in 2022.
“Lizzie and I are best friends,” Shah told the publication. “As another high-ranking inmate, there are certain things you both go through, so naturally you meet in those situations.”
For his part, Shah insisted he is working to recover the $6.6 million he is owed for allegedly defrauding elderly customers as part of a telemarketing scheme.
“I would like to say that I am sorry and I am here and I accept the responsibility and I have made it my goal as part of my results to make sure that people are paid for land restoration,” he said. “These people deserve to be healed.”
