Jana Kramer Warns Ex Mike Caussin About Book Revelations

Jana Kramer it was an open letter about her divorce from her ex-husband Mike Caussin — but he wouldn’t share everything publicly without her permission.
“Even writing things about my ex in my book, it’s like, ‘Hey, obviously I write stories, here are some of them. Would you like to see them?'” Kramer, 42, recalled on the Friday, March 13, episode of his “Whine Down” podcast.
Kramer said he gave Caussin, 39, a heads up about what he plans to include in his 2023 book, Next Chapter: Making Peace with Difficult Memories, Finding Hope All Around Me, and Clearing the Space for Good Things to Come― Navigating Heartbreak and Loss Wisely.
Kramer explained, “I think it’s an honorable thing to do to reach out to people if you’re going to talk about them.”
I One Tree Hill alum joked that she told Caussin at the time that “because our book about trust ended,” she was going to write about her experience as a divorcee instead.
Now-exes have previously engaged The Good Fight: Wanting to Go, Choosing to Stay, and the Powerful Practice of Loving Faithfully and they were supposed to work together on a second project about trust when Kramer found out that Caussin was allegedly cheating on him. (Caussin did not speak publicly about the alleged infidelity, but Kramer wrote about it in his book). They parted ways in the spring of 2021.
“I said, what I want you to know first and foremost is that this is not a ‘I hate Mike’ book.” This is almost my post-divorce year,” Kramer recalled on Friday’s podcast.
He said to her, “There are things I didn’t talk about to protect you, especially the children. [about it].”
Kramer told his audience, “I felt like I had enough taste in the news” and Caussin agreed.
He says, ‘I hope you say what you say about the news and you wouldn’t say what I hope you wouldn’t say,'” he said.
Kramer admitted that if the tables were turned, “I would read every page.”
When asked if he would have “changed” parts of the story if Caussin had objected, Kramer admitted that he would have only “cut pieces” of his book because it is his “truth”.
Kramer noted that when it comes to his breakup with Caussin, his book and what he discusses on his podcast focus only on their past together, not what the retired NFL player is doing now.

Kramer announced in April 2021 that she and Caussin were divorcing after nearly six years of marriage.
“‘It’s about time.’ As I try to make sense of a reality I don’t want to believe can happen again, those words have come true now,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “I fought with you. You loved me hard. I have forgiven you. I put in the work. I gave everything I have, now I have nothing more to give.”
Kramer and Caussin previously split in 2016 after that Us Weekly he broke the news that he was unfaithful. Caussin later entered treatment for sex addiction and the couple renewed their vows in 2017.
The couple, who have daughter Jolie, 10, and son Jace, 7, split for good in 2021 after he admitted to having an affair again. (Kramer is now married to her Allan Russellwith whom he shares a son Roman, 2.)
Kramer went on to talk about his ups and downs with Caussin and their power to breed on his podcast.
In her book, she said that during their decision to divorce, Caussin said to her, “You know, I never really loved you.”
“He wanted to hurt me, and the news came out,” he wrote. “I had taken big steps towards him and towards a new future in the past few weeks, but hearing those words confirmed the little voice in my head that told me that everything he did and said in our marriage was because he didn’t love me.”
