Dynamic Trio: Taeyang and Daesung’s departure

Taeyang and Daesung each charted their courses. After TOP left YG in 2022, Taeyang left to join Black Label, a subsidiary of YG, while Daesung also left to pursue opportunities under a label called R&D.

Despite being distributed on different labels, the three have maintained a smart connection – as shown in “Home Sweet Home” – and the world tour confirmed for 2026 shows that any barriers that exist between different agencies, have been cleared enough to make a big reunion tour possible.

TOP’s walk and his emotional lyrics

The biggest change for the group came in 2017, when TOP faced legal problems related to the use of marijuana while serving in the military. News of the case emerged in June, along with reports of heavy drinking, marking one of the most difficult times in the club’s history.

Looking back at the 2022 interview no The fame of Hong Konghe described that time as “the worst time” of his life.

“This is the first time I’ve talked about this publicly, but I tried to kill myself five years ago,” he told this magazine. “I realized later how many painful and painful memories I gave to the people around me, my family and the fans outside.”

He also revealed that he had suffered from depression since he was young and ended up writing songs in the following years, making more than 100 songs.

“It was my motivation, like wanting to fill a bookshelf with my work. It was my desire. I saw how valuable it is to give back what I found. I feel like I’ve been reborn.”

In 2022, it was revealed that TOP had ended his contract with YG Entertainment. Apart from this, he participated in the group’s comeback song, “Still Life,” which was released on April 5, 2022, marking the group’s debut as a quartet. That collaboration gave fans hope that TOP could still be a part of BIGBANG’s future, but he announced on May 31, 2023, that he had officially withdrawn from the group.

What makes this especially painful for fans is TOP’s own words about it. In an interview conducted during an appearance on the original Netflix series Squid game Season 2 in 2025, TOP drew a line about BIGBANG’s comeback.

He cautiously replied, “I was thinking of ‘Spring Summer Fall Winter’ as a final project,” and added, “Seeing fans still hoping for a reunion hurt my heart more than anger. I feel guilty for the members and will have this regret for the rest of my life.”

Seungri’s Exit: A Brief Recap

The second major change in the group occurred in 2019 when Seungri retired from the entertainment industry amid the highly publicized scandal of Burning Sun. He was sentenced in 2020 for crimes including mediation and prostitution. Originally sentenced to three years in prison, Seungri’s sentence was reduced to 18 months in 2022 following his guilty plea. He was released on February 9, 2023. There is no indication in the current report that Seungri has any involvement in BIGBANG’s 2026 plans.
