Inflation is coming to Fortnite: V-Bucks prices are going up

Even the in-game currencies of your favorite military shooters cannot cope with the current global economic conditions.

Fortnitethe most popular online free-to-play game, announced on Tuesday that it is increasing the prices of its in-game currency V-Bucks.

“Running costs Fortnite has increased significantly and we are raising prices to help pay the bills,” developer Epic Games shared in a statement Fortnite’s website.

Currently, $8.99 buys gamers 1,000 V-Bucks. As of March 19, $8.99 will only buy gamers 800 V-Bucks.

Those price changes will also go into effect everywhere on that day. Here’s how prices will change:

  • The $22.99 V-Bucks pack will come with 2,400 V-Bucks instead of the current price of 2,800

  • The $36.99 pack will come with 4,500 5,000 V-Bucks instead of 5,000.

  • The $89.99 pack will come with 12,500 V-Bucks instead of 13,500.

While technically, the V-Bucks packs stay in the standard amount, the packs will come with fewer V-Bucks. If Fortnite fans want to buy the exact price packs, then they will see a more accurate representation of the price increase, as $0.50 for 50 V-bucks goes up to $0.99 for 50 V-bucks. Players will end up spending more money.

However, that is not the only price change to come Fortnite.

Fortnite Crew, the game’s monthly subscription membership, will remain priced at $11.99 per month. However, instead of getting 1,000 V-Bucks per month for the reward, members will only get 800 V-Bucks per month going forward.

There is also price drop coming to all four Fortnite’s the season passes.

Fortnite’s The OG Pass will drop in price from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800 V-Bucks. The game’s Music Pass and LEGO Pass will also be reduced from 1,400 V-Bucks to 1,200 V-Bucks.

As for the most popular season pass, Fortnite’s The Battle Pass, will also drop in price from 1,000 V-Bucks per season to 800 V-Bucks.

However, there is a negative change here as well. Epic is also changing the amount of V-Bucks you can earn with the Battle Pass. By playing the game, completing quests, earning XP, and leveling up, gamers could earn up to 1,000 V-Bucks and an additional 500 V-Bucks for Bonus Rewards. Going forward, only 800 V-Bucks can be earned by completing the Battle Pass. That is complete. Fortnite also complete with V-Bucks for Bonus Rewards.

So, when Fortnite players can still purchase one Battle Pass and use their V-Bucks to redeem the next season’s Battle Pass forever, no remaining V-Bucks will be used for skins or other items Fortnite buy under these changes.

The game’s battle bundle, which includes the Battle Pass and 25 level upgrades, will also change in price, from 2,800 V-Bucks to 2,600 V-Bucks.

It is important to note that the in-game items in the Fortnite shop don’t change the gameplay. Skins, emotes, back bling, wraps, and other items are all cosmetic in nature and do not play a role in actual gameplay.

What happens if you have Fortnite a gift card? Epic Games says users with existing gift cards can continue to use them for the amount printed on the card.
