Hulu’s Hit Series Tell Me Lies Is Officially Ending After Season 3

Tell me a lie will not return for more episodes after its third season.
Creator Meaghan Oppenheimer confirmed on Monday, February 16, that Hulu’s hit series will be ending its run, writing on Instagram, “After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight’s episode will be the series finale. This was the finale for my writing team and what I thought of, and we are proud of it. Your amazing response to this season has inspired us to explore another natural story, but let’s feel if we have reached its natural story. The end.”
He concluded: “My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you. So, while it’s nice to leave something that was such a fun experience, I’m very grateful that we were able to tell a complete story with an intentional ending – it’s a privilege that very few shows get. Thank you for loving our show. We’re excited to bring you the future.”
The season 3 finale scheduled to air on Tuesday, February 17, is set to be the series finale. Oppenheimer previously broke his silence on speculation that season 3 of Tell me a lie the last game.
“Regarding future seasons, it’s impossible to really know yet,” Oppenheimer said only. Us Weekly in January. “Of course I always thought this was the end I had in mind.”
Oppenheimer didn’t rule out a return, adding, “But you never know what’s going to happen next. But there’s a feeling that I didn’t want to leave anything out this season. Basically, I wanted to satisfy everyone.”
Based on Carola Lovering’s novel of the same name, Tell me a lie following a disastrous relationship between college students Lucy (Grace Van Pattenand Stephen (Jackson White). Their troubled romance lasts eight years – and everyone around them is affected by Lucy and Stephen’s ups and downs.
Season 3, which returned in January, sparked outrage with the romance involving Bree (Cat Missal) and Wrigley (Homes in Spencer), which complicated the current timeline. Bree and Evan’s Wedding (Brandon Cook) seems to have gone off without a hitch despite the fact that she still had feelings for Wrigley — and learned earlier that her now-husband was hooking up with Lucy in college.
Off screen, Oppenheimer spoke to him Us about how the writers’ room combines storylines that take place in two timelines.
“I’ve always felt where they are in 2015 and what their strengths are and what secrets everyone has. If you at least know what people know and what they don’t know, that gives you a lot of room to play,” he commented in 2024. “But the way we built it was we did the 2008 story line first in the room. Then we did the whole 201 season thing.”
Oppenheimer continued: “I knew I wanted to finish the season, though, in 2015. I knew where I had to go.”
After Tell me a lie has been renewed for a third season, Oppenheimer has signed a comprehensive deal with 20th Television, part of Disney Television Studios.
“Meaghan has shepherded Tell Me Lies for two highly addictive seasons that have fueled an incredible wave of passionate fans and public conversation,” said 20th Television president Karey Burke in a December 2024 statement. “We are thrilled to have her officially at the studio and leading another fantastic season.”
The last episode of Tell me a lie airs Tuesday, February 17, on Hulu.
