Howard Stern to keep his Mouth Shut over Friend Carolyn Bessette

Howard Stern He opened up about his unexpected friendship with the deceased Carolyn Bessettealthough he promised not to reveal how close they are.

“I knew the real Carolyn Bessette,” the DJ, 72, revealed The Howard Stern Show Monday, March 23 (on Rolling Stone). “I wouldn’t say I knew her well, but we had many, many conversations, more than just casual conversations. She was very lovely. She was a really nice woman … I don’t want to go into how I knew her, but I knew her. I knew enough to keep my mouth shut about that.”

Stern continued, “Some things you have to keep private … But he was very kind to me, very open and talkative. He didn’t get in my nose. I don’t have a good story or a gossip.”

Stern also knew Bessette’s late husband JFK Jr., having applied for Kennedy’s film cover. George Magazine in 1996. On Monday The Stern Showrevealed why he agreed to do a George photography in an era when he was very selective about doing any magazine covers.

“I will do it Rolling Stone and that was just him,” said Stern. “But when John Kennedy Jr. [asks]American royalty and the nicest guy in the world…he was a very good man. And there was a chance that maybe he would come on the show.”

Stern revealed that Kennedy even appeared in his cover photo, which made him look like him George Washington in colonial clothes. (George (often its cover stars wore clothing from the Revolutionary War era.)

“He actually appeared to shoot,” Stern recalled. “It’s one of the worst covers I’ve ever done, and I’ve done a lot of bad ones. They convinced me to cut down a cherry tree with a chainsaw dressed in a colonel’s uniform. I think I was supposed to be George Washington, but George Washington didn’t wear the s*** I was wearing. I looked like Paul Revere by dragging.”

I The Stern Show The host added, “John and the photographer did that thing they do with big models. They went. ‘She’s beautiful, you look beautiful. This is the greatest cover ever.’ I’m standing while the guy is clicking, and I’m pretending to be Cindy Crawford or one of the Hadid sister. That was before I knew about photo licensing. I think I look like Captain Hook or something. “
