Home Alone Star Daniel Stern’s Misdemeanor Prostitution Case Dismissed

A spokesperson for the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Entertainment Weekly On Friday, February 6, Stern, 68, took the necessary steps to have the original charge dropped.

“The defendant did what he had to do,” said an attorney from the District Attorney’s Office. “She finished her education class and was expelled. This is our usual situation when prostitution cases happen for the first time.”

Senior Deputy District Attorney Twyla Atmore informed the presiding judge, Paul Baelyin court on Friday that the case was dismissed because Stern had completed a “remedial program.”

Stern’s attorney Blair Berk after that he told The California Post that the actor was looking forward to putting this practice behind him.

“The case was dismissed out of favor as it should have been dismissed and we are very happy,” said his lawyer.

Home alone star Daniel Stern charged with one count of attempted prostitution.

Stern, 68, was formally charged with “engaging in and consenting to prostitution” in Ventura County, California, on Monday, January 12, according to documents obtained Us Weekly. His trial is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13.

The actor was reportedly at a hotel in Camarillo, California, on December 10, 2025, when law enforcement served him with a prostitution warrant, according to documents obtained by TMZ on January 9. According to the report, Stern was not arrested or charged in connection with the incident.

“From what I understand, he was identified in the area and then released,” said the lawyer and spokesman Joey Buttitta he told People at that time.

Stern starred as the “wet thug” Marv on the side Joe Pesci again Macaulay Culkin in the 1990s Home alone and its sequel, in 1992 Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Married to his wife, Laura Mattossince 1980, and the couple recently renewed their vows in a surprise ceremony during the 2019 episode. In October 2025, Stern made headlines when he was hospitalized for an undisclosed emergency. He was reportedly checked out by firefighters at his home in California and eventually transported to a nearby hospital, where he was released, according to TMZ. A rep later confirmed that the Wonder Years alum was in good health.

Stern is not the first Home alone star to deal with the legal problem. Devin Ratraywho played Culkin’s older brother in both films, was arrested in December 2021 after an alleged altercation at an Oklahoma City hotel in which he allegedly pushed, hit and pressed his hands around his ex-girlfriend’s throat and mouth. He was later charged with aggravated domestic assault and battery by strangulation, as well as domestic assault and battery.

Ratray was released on a $25,000 bond and initially pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea to avoid arrest. He eventually pleaded guilty to two counts of domestic violence in February 2024. He was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to complete a Batterers Intervention Program, as well as drug/alcohol testing, according to court documents.

“I feel relieved that this chapter of my life is coming to an end, but the scars and trauma will never heal,” read the statement of Ratray’s ex-girlfriend during the court proceedings, which she did not attend. No one should have to endure the fear and pain I have experienced from someone they have cared for.

“I want to make it clear that even one incident of abuse at home is too many,” he continued. “No one should have to endure the physical and emotional abuse I went through. I hope that by speaking out and sharing my story, I can encourage others to seek help and speak out against domestic violence. I want to send a message that abusers will face the consequences of their actions and that victims deserve to be heard and believed.”
