Watch With Us wants to highlight three movies that are especially new to the scene and would make for a great movie night this weekend.
Our first choice is a scary horror movie The Blair Witch Project, the famous video that got the flick that shocked the world.
‘The Blair Witch Project’ (1999)
Three students in the film named Heather (Rei Hance), Josh (Joshua Leonardand Mike (Michael Williams) went to a small town in Maryland to film a local legend known as the “Blair Witch.” After interviewing the villagers about the grisly details of the legend, the trio enters the nearby forest and gathers clues. But as they spend more time in this supposedly cursed wilderness, strange things begin to happen, and they lose their map. Young people begin to feel that they are being hunted by someone—or someone thing beyond their understanding.
The Blair Witch Project it is notable for being one of the first movies whose marketing came primarily from the Internet, and promotional tactics – including fake “missing” posters, police reports and “news-style” interviews – led to public speculation about whether the film was real or staged. Ultimately, this uncertainty played a big part in how scary the film came across to audiences at the time, but even seasoned viewers of 2026 may find themselves unimpressed. Small, low-budget production and accessible filmmaking The Blair Witch Project an undeniably grounded setting that makes its horrors feel all the more real.
‘Spider-Man 2’ (2004)
Following the events of Spider Manthis song features Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) losing his confidence after compounding the pressures affects his mind. Trying to balance his fight against crime with overdue rent, multiple jobs, homework and the possible eviction of his beloved Aunt May (Rosemary Harris), his powers began to fade, unable to shoot webs from wrists or scale structures. But Peter will have to find a way to get his mojo back and soon, as his former mentor, nuclear scientist Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), begins to wreak havoc after a fatal accident involving his body in four robotic arms.
Spider-Man 2 easily the best installment of Sam Raimi’s trilogy, with more emotional depth and a better developed, more compelling villain in Otto Octavius, aka Doc Ock. The film succeeds as a touching romantic drama, a thrilling superhero adventure and a tragic tragedy. Raimi does a masterful job of subverting the spectacle of special effects with clever filmmaking and a moving human story. At the end of the day, Spider-Man 2 it’s about the best you can ask for in a superhero movie.
‘Little Miss Sunshine’ (2006)
The dysfunctional Hoover family embarks on a trip to Redondo Beach, California, where its youngest member, Olive (Abigail Breslin), recently entered the “Little Miss Sunshine” beauty pageant. Also on the call is Olive’s distraught mother Sheryl (Toni Collette), her motivational speaker father Richard (Greg Kinnear), depressed, suicidal Uncle Frank (Steve Carell), heroin-addicted grandfather Frank (Alan Arkin), and estranged brother, Dwayne (Paul Dano). As the Hoovers head to Redondo Beach in their VW bus, the group’s patience wears thin.
A warm heart, tender and life-affirming, Little Miss Sunshine the tissue box watch is ready. The wonderful performances of the ensemble cast give the film life, and the humor may be dark, but it’s mostly funny. The film is about learning to accept the essence of life; that there will always be someone better than you, better than you, smarter than you or stronger than you, but the important thing is to accept being yourself. If you’re looking for a feel-good movie that will also touch your heart, be sure to check it out Little Miss Sunshine.
