Man Arrested in Cold Case of Murder of Mother Stabbed in Ga. Store

Authorities have named a suspect in the cold case murder of a woman who was stabbed to death in 2010 while working at a Georgia phone store.

“He was known to be family-oriented, personable and hard-working,” Hamilton added.

On March 17, 2020, Robinson’s boyfriend called 911 after arriving at a convenience store in Douglas — where Robinson worked — to pick her up from work, according to Hamilton.

Her boyfriend found the store’s doors locked, Hamilton said. Authorities responded and found that Robinson had been stabbed to death behind the store, according to Hamilton. He was 32 years old.

“Throughout the years,” GBI “agents and investigators both past and present have conducted numerous interviews, collected evidence, canvassed neighborhoods, reviewed surveillance footage in the area and continued to re-examine evidence for potential new leads,” Hamilton said.

“Although this case may be considered cold, it has never been forgotten,” he added.

Following ongoing investigative efforts and the examination of forensic evidence, James was linked to Robinson’s murder.

The GBI described James as “a friend of Robinson’s” who was “frequently found” at the phone store where he worked.

Details on whether he has retained legal counsel as of March 4 were not available.

At the news conference, one of Robinson’s children, Trey Robinsonhe said his mother’s death was “life-changing” for him and his “whole family”.

“I was very close to my mother,” Trey said.

He said his killing led him to pursue law enforcement and become a police officer in 2016.

“It has always been my goal to fight for justice with my whole family, because my mother did not deserve what happened to her,” said Trey. “Since then, I have fought, fought, fought for his justice.”

The possible cause of Sandra’s murder was not clarified by the law enforcement.

The GBI continues to investigate his death.

“Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be turned over to the Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution,” the GBI said.
