Dave Coulier’s Tongue Cancer Is In Remission 4 Months After Diagnosis

Dave CoulierTongue cancer has officially been diagnosed, two months after he went public with his diagnosis.
“It’s been quite a roller coaster ride,” said Coulier, 66, on Wednesday, February 4. Good Morning America. “I’m sorry about both cancers. And what a journey it’s been.”
I Full house alum announced in December 2025 that doctors diagnosed her with HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer in October. The illness was “not at all related” to his previous battle with stage III non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
To get chemotherapy and feel that relief of, ‘Wow, it’s gone.’ And then you get a test that says, ‘Well now you have another form of cancer,'” says Today will be shown in December 2025. “It’s shocking to the show.”
Coulier announced his diagnosis of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in November 2024. He was cancer-free in March 2025, after multiple rounds of chemotherapy.
“It was a really tough year, the chemotherapy was exhausting,” Coulier said Today late last year. “A few months ago I did a PET scan, something popped up in the scan.” The doctor said, ‘We don’t know what it is, but there’s something under your tongue.'”
Coulier explained that it was a “very sad” experience.
“It’s like biting your tongue, but the pain just lasts every day,” said the actor during an interview with him today.
Oropharyngeal cancer is considered rare, and the American Cancer Society estimates that it affects only 53,000 people a year. The illness “builds on your oropharynx, the middle part of your throat,” according to the Cleveland Clinic article. Although it is curable, it “can come back,” the same article said. Coulier’s particular type of tongue cancer affected the P16 protein, a marker for human papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted disease that can turn into cancer if left untreated.
In December 2025, Coulier revealed that he plans to undergo 35 radiation treatments. “The prognosis is good,” his medical team said at the time.
“It’s a completely different animal than chemo,” he explained. “It doesn’t sound like aggression, but there are still side effects.”
Coulier has remained cheerful throughout his battle with cancer. However, the actor has spoken freely about the toll on his mental health.
“It’s emotional. It’s mentally draining,” Coulier said Todayexplaining that it also affected his wife, Melissa Letha. “I’m going to skip this. The important thing here is that I had cancer, which helped me get my other cancer. It seems like I’m crazy to say those words, but it’s true.”
Bring, who has been married to Coulier since 2014, also spoke about her husband’s long cancer journey in a January 2025 interview.
“He’s having really tough days, and as the chemo has been piling up it’s getting harder and harder,” she said at the time. “He’s got a good attitude, and you need that to really fight it.
Bring remembers, “Every morning, if he’s willing, we try to put on a song and have a little dance party with the dogs, because when you feel happy, you should celebrate that too.”
