Conan O’Brien On Saying His Name Was “Draged” Into Rob And Michele Reiner’s Death

On Sunday, December 14, 2025, Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Los Angeles home, both suffering from stab wounds. A few hours later, their 32-year-old son, Nick, was arrested for the double murder.
Nick appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court last month, facing two counts of aggravated murder. He pleaded not guilty during his trial. If convicted, he could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty. He will next appear in court on April 29.
The deaths of two of Hollywood’s most beloved and well-connected personalities sent shockwaves through the industry, especially since Rob and Michele were with many of their famous peers the night before their deaths.
As a reminder, on Saturday, December 13, Rob and Michele attended Conan O’Brien’s holiday party. Nick also went with them, and the Reiners’ night at the party apparently came to an early end after Nick and Rob got into “a really big argument.”
Another report from the Hollywood Reporter reveals that Nick’s “asocial and unsetting” behavior is what led to the alleged conflict between him and Rob. “Minutes later, the Reiners, distraught, apologized to O’Brien and left the group,” THR reports. “It’s not clear if Nick went with them.”
Prosecutors believe Nick stabbed Rob and Michele to death in the early hours of Dec. 14. Their bodies were found around 3:40 pm, which is when Nick had fled the scene.
Discussing the murder for the first time during an interview with the New Yorker in February, Conan recalled Rob and Michele leaving the party that night, saying: “To have the experience of saying goodbye to someone and leaving them and finding out the next day that they’re gone…
Now, Conan has spoken for a second time about Rob and Michele’s death, specifically regarding the information that his name has been “dragged” in the media storm surrounding the tragedy.
“Quite simply, we had a party, we invited our really good friends, and the next day, this terrible thing happened,” Conan said in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter ahead of his Oscars hosting gig on Sunday.
Paying tribute to Rob and Michele’s loved ones, he continued: “Any hardships my wife and I have had to deal with having our name attached to them is nothing compared to the magnitude of the family tragedy and the loss of Rob and Michele.”
“If you are a well-known person, your name sometimes gets involved in things, but it is not a problem,” he concluded. “It’s just sad that they’re gone.”
