Car Review: Inside the 2026 Lincoln Navigator Black Label

Despite weighing just over 6,000 lbs., the Navigator Black Label is powered by a twin-turbo V6 producing 440 horsepower, consistent with Ford’s philosophy of reducing fuel consumption without sacrificing performance. Hosted by Lincoln

The 2026 Lincoln Navigator Black Label is big—extremely big for a consumer-market SUV. That’s part of its identity in the automotive world. The other part shows that it is very comfortable and technologically advanced in a luxurious environment as it can handle any SUV.

The Black Label badge sits atop the Navigator trim with knobs and whistles—for prices that equate to about $120,000. Seating up to eight people, depending on how the owner arranges the cargo area, this Lincoln adds to the catalog of beauty, infotainment, safety and comfort, setting this top-of-the-line SUV to battle the sprawling Cadillac Escalade or GMC Yukon Denali in the home market.

While you might think that such a moving fortress would need a beefy V8 for proper motivation, Ford’s philosophy flowing to Lincoln looks to reduce fuel consumption by using a smaller, turbo-aided engine. Accordingly, this Navigator uses a twin-turbo V6 that produces 440 horsepower. The V8 may provide slow acceleration, but a large SUV is not built for speed. The six cylinders create the smooth power a luxury people carrier needs without feeling sluggish. The V6 also manages a reported towing capacity of 8,700 lb with the right connections in place.

A 10-speed automatic transmission puts the power down, and a sophisticated brake design stops the masses. A four-wheel power disc, anti-lock brake system adds Lincoln’s AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control to hold the machine and reduce lateral inertia. Onboard computer assistance kicks in Automatic Emergency Braking to avoid a collision in the event of distracted driving. Finally, Reverse Brake Assist uses radar to monitor the rear bumper in any overly aggressive reversing situation.

One weapon in the Navigator’s impenetrable arsenal is the steering and feel behind the wheel. Lincoln remains in the Ford family as one of their partner brands, and Ford focuses on making large vehicles easy to handle. The Ford F-150 pickup truck—the world’s fastest-selling commercial vehicle, sold every 50 seconds or more—is as capable as any hatchback or crossover.

The 2026 Navigator surprisingly doesn’t have that F-150 feel, as it requires more effort than Ford’s trucks because of the heavy feel behind the round steering wheel. That should account for its curb weight of just over 6,000 lbs. Even with the state-of-the-art electric power steering, the Lincoln works a little to turn that three-ton heft. That poundage will also create a feeling of understeer when the Lincoln turns a corner too quickly.

Nuts and bolts noted, the Navigator Black Label’s identity lives on most prominently with its luxury features. The most obvious attraction is the unique, cinematic infotainment screen. Positioned just below the windshield and extending 48 inches into the cockpit from driver to passenger, the screen’s adjustable display options include a combination of selected driving information, weather conditions, sports scores, environmental effects and more.

Beyond the screen that explores the limits of the surrounding vision, the Navigator creates an endless collection of comfort, safety and entertainment functions. Lincoln “Rejuvenate” seats offer heating and cooling in the first two rows. The front driver and passenger seats include multi-setting massage capability. The Revel Ultima sound system with 28 speakers fills the car with music with Lincoln Connect and its 5G Wi-Fi, Google integration, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Those natural features mentioned above are enhanced by an aromatic interior. When the redesigned Navigator appeared last year, Lincoln offered seven Digital Scent Cartridges—including Mystic Forest, Ozonic Azure, Violet Cashmere, Cloud Balsam, Serene Seashore, Twilight Embers and Sunlight Retreat—to make that new car scent seem pedestrian by comparison. Lincoln continues to release new themes and scents to keep every gimmick fresh.

For any mid-size car, that amount of traction between the driver and passenger seats would be enough, but there are several kilometers of SUV behind most people in the back. The paid environment gives Navigator Black Label the opportunity to throw a lot of goodies into the mix. Its modular functions adapt to the needs and events of the roadside as the chairs can stay in place or provide folding tables for picnics, glamping or camping. All features can also be folded out of the way for maximum cargo space.

Lincoln introduced the new BlueCruise self-driving technology to its 2025 SUVs, and it’s here to stay. Intelligent driving technology announces that it is ready to take control of the car at high speeds in free-flowing traffic—while still relying on the driver’s continuous attention and perception. If the operator takes his hands off the wheel or fails to adjust the gaze downrange, BlueCruise will detect it and nudge the driver to play by the rules.

The minutiae of it all still feel more stressful than actual driving. Hearing the car take control while the driver is watching just fuels the urge to turn off BlueCruise and get back on the wheel.

Throwing BlueCruise aside, the driving experience is solid and good on the road. While its size will allow the 2026 Lincoln Navigator Black Label to handle some serious off-road duty, that’s an assignment best left to the Defender or Range Rover Sport in this price segment. Buyers have put down six figures for this Lincoln to have the maximum comfort of passenger figures who want advanced features on the road and when they arrive. It’s all about avoiding the dirt and grime of the highway so the driver and crew arrive happy and refreshed—for a price.
