Vance reveals his role after Trump tapped him to lead the war on fraud

Vice President JD Vance described his role in leading the newly announced “war on fraud” on Wednesday after President Donald Trump announced the effort during his State of the Union address.

“I don’t know what the top line number is, and I think that’s unfortunate, that no one has ever tried to look systematically at how much fraud there is in the federal government,” Vance said on “America’s Newsroom.”

“How many illegal aliens are on Medicaid? We know that billions and billions of dollars should be going to American citizens. It’s going to illegal aliens. How many fake child care centers have been set up where that money should be going to American citizens to help their children get into child care? Instead, it’s being stolen from them by illegal aliens in our country…”

Vance raised concerns that government officials may be “enriching” or receiving campaign contributions from the beneficiaries of fraud by being “complicit” in wrongdoing.

He told Fox News that the president has tasked him with taking a “whole of government approach” to investigating fraud, including the Department of Justice and Treasury to lead the investigation and obtain financial records.

“We will be trying to understand how it happened that the American people were defrauded. How did it happen that people used services and programs that should go to American citizens instead of using a scam?” Vance said.

“There are a lot of tools that we have that haven’t been used, and the president and I talked about this a few months ago and we said, ‘What if we did everything we could to stop this fraud on the American taxpayer?’ The president said, ‘It’s a great idea, let’s do it,’ and we’re going to work on that very hard for the next year.”

Vance clarified that the administration’s “war on fraud” will continue well beyond the next year, but Trump officials intend to “reveal as much as possible” in the coming months.

While speaking on multiple topics, the vice president also admonished Congressional Democrats for their behavior during Tuesday’s State of the Union, where most people remained seated and refused to applaud throughout the speech, including when Trump challenged lawmakers to “stand up and show.” [their] support” if they agreed that the interests of American citizens were more important than those of illegal immigrants.

“What a shame,” Vance said of the Democrats’ rejection.

“What a sad comment in the Democratic Party that the idea that the American government should represent American citizens, not illegal aliens. That shouldn’t be controversial, but it was clearly the Democrats.”

Vance said he saw a number of Democrats “politely clap” but chose not to stand.

“I think they were probably worried about their far-left party getting elected, but they were all looking around. They were saying, ‘You know what? I’m going to stand up and support this because this is common sense, an obvious statement.’ They were surrounded by their colleagues because they did not have the courage to stand up for themselves,” he said.

“That, above all else, Bill, is a sad commentary on the Democratic Party.”
