Bill Gates he is accused of having affairs and recently admitted that his name was mentioned in the Epstein Files.
The United States Department of Justice has released a collection of files linked to a late sex offender Jeffrey EpsteinGates was previously linked to, in February 2026. (Epstein died by suicide at age 66 in August 2019.)
An email from the files alleges that Bill had sex with “two Russian girls” and contracted sexually transmitted diseases. At the time the email was written, Bill was married to her Melinda Gates. The couple separated in May 2021 after 27 years of marriage.
After the email was released to the public in February 2026, Bill apologized for his communication with Epstein.
“It was a big mistake to spend time with Epstein,” he said at a Gates Foundation town hall, according to a transcript obtained by the Wall Street Journal at the time. “I apologize to other people who got into this because of the mistake I made.”
Bill also said he never did or saw anything “illegal” while hanging out with the late billionaire, but he was guilty of having affairs.
“I’ve had some news,” he said at the town hall. “One is a Russian bridge player who met me at bridge events, and the other is a Russian nuclear physicist I met through business activities.”

Bill Gates confirmed in February 2026 that he had affairs with a “Russian bridge player” and a “Russian nuclear scientist.” Although Bill did not reveal the identity of his romantic partner, the Wall Street Journal reported that he knows a bridge player Mila Antonova. Bill and Antonova reportedly met in 2010. Antonova has not yet spoken about her alleged relationship with Bill.

Bill later spoke about the allegations that he left the company because of the investigation through his spokesperson.
“There was an affair almost 20 years ago that ended amicably,” the attorney told NBC News in 2021. “Bill’s decision to step down has nothing to do with this matter. In fact, he had expressed an interest in spending more time in his ministry over the past few years.”

Although Melinda Gates has not spoken about the news directly, she has reacted when her ex-husband was mentioned in the Epstein Files.
“I think we have a role to play as a society. No girl should be put in the situation that Epstein put her in and whatever happened to all the different people around her,” Melinda said on the February 2026 episode of NPR’s “Wild Card with Rachel Martin” podcast. “It’s more than heartbreaking.”
The philanthropist added that it was “personally difficult” to recall some of those memories from her marriage to Bill.
“[It] it brings back memories of very painful times in my marriage. But I have moved away from that,” he continued.” “I deliberately pushed it and moved forward. I’m in a place I really didn’t expect, which is good in my life.”
