“I watched. It was a tough watch, because I’ve always found that tough,” Ellie said exclusively. Us Weekly. “I know how you are, you lead women on, which we’ve seen Victoria do. She’s like, ‘I don’t want anything to do with you, but my mom would love you. I’ve never felt this way and you’re special, but why would you think I want anything to do with you?'”
Ellie said Joe put her through “a lot of mind games.”
“Victoria seemed a bit hurt and it wasn’t right – especially because of all the things she was going through,” he said. “So I hope Joe has learned from that and hopefully he will grow in the future.”
Before joining season 4 of Below Deck Down UnderEllie originally appeared in season 9 of the Below Deck Mediterranean and formed a connection with Joe, which led to a love triangle with Brian Muller.
“I don’t wish harm on anyone, but I think [Joe’s newest drama] he saved me a little, it showed that it’s not just me,” he explained, “He was playing with my head and playing with Bri’s head. But he did that secretly. We didn’t really hear the conversations he had with the other girl. So for us, it was like, ‘Oh, this girl is trying to get this guy because I like him.’
He continued: “That’s when our conflict started, like, ‘Are you doing this just to get me? We started to take it personally but we didn’t really realize it was too late. It was Joe all the time talking to both of us.”
Joe joked Us in November 2025 that he didn’t learn “at all” from his first public love triangle.
“They understand my message. My message is that I’m single, and if you want to have a little fun and give me the same energy that it’s going to be a mess,” he added, explaining where he stood with Bri and Ellie. “But I’m your friend at the end of the day, so I’m still in touch with Elena and I’m still in touch with Bri.”
Joe said that he, Brie and Ellie were “friends,” explaining, “We’re young and we’re in a closed space. It’s going to happen. But I’ve been in contact with everyone and I have no bad intentions.”
While talking to UsEllie confirmed that she “made up” with Bri after their season of the show. His focus is now on doing better – especially now that he’s back on TV screens with Below Deck Down Under.
“I’m hoping this is a little bit different, because I got called last season … and I was like, ‘Am I?'” he told us. “Do I want validation from men? And that was true at the time. So that was another thing that I reflected on and developed.”
