Aimee Donna Kelly’s SVU Character Dropped in New Clip

Captain Renee Curry gets a big demon Law & Order: Special Victims Unit after confronting Chief Kathryn Tynan.

Us Weekly’s exclusive clip from the Thursday, April 2, episode of SVU shows Sgt. Amanda Rollins (Kelly Giddish) looking at Curry (Aimé Donna Kelly) in his new gig as a local executive.

“Not one cop checks their phone, they have to love you,” Rollins quipped to Curry, who just kicked out a class of rookie cops.

Curry, as he does, refers to doing things his way.

“There may or may not be rumors that anyone who ignores this rule gets zero OT,” Curry replied. Rollins says, “He puts the hammer down.”

Curry says he’s a “natural” teacher before the two begin discussing the team’s situation.

“I don’t like this,” Rollins said. Curry replies, “There’s nothing to like.

Rollins asks, “Can I still be mad at you?”

Curry changes the subject, revealing that he needs to attend a “budget meeting” before texting Detective Jake Griffin (Corey Cott) about double parking.

Thursday’s episode, titled “Vivid,” follows the March 12 installment in which Chief Kathryn Tynan (Or Dumezwini) approached Curry with the offer of being SVU’s deputy chief. Curry refused and told Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay).

Curry told his manager that he “wouldn’t be outplayed” by Tynan, who has been Benson’s biggest enemy this season. Curry then revealed the news of his replacement.

“He’s doing this to get to me,” Benson said. “I’m not letting that happen.”

Forward SVUIn the season 27 premiere in September 2025, Kelly teased a big change with her character this season as Benson faced off against Tynan. (Kelly was promoted to series regular before season 27.)

“If your leader is going through certain things, then we all are,” the actor said at the time. “We all feel that tension, and I can’t give too much away, but it’s hot.”

Kelly also told Us that he’s glad fans are invested in Curry’s on-screen development. (Curry was introduced as an officer of the Internal Affairs Bureau in season 22. He switched to SVU during season 25.)

“The good thing about the way Curry’s journey has been in the last few seasons is that he is also learning from them. I think the whole team can see that,” he said. Us. “You understand that there is a different way in the police. You can lead with empathy. You can lead by hearing the other person’s side first, instead of always coming up with the facts.”

New episodes of Law & Order: SVU premiere on NBC Thursdays at 9 pm ET and are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
