A woman says she was kicked off a Frontier flight because she was deaf — but the airline tells a different story

A woman alleges in a viral TikTok video that she was discriminated against for being deaf when she was kicked off a recent Frontier Airlines flight, but the airline says she was under the influence of alcohol – and disputed whether she has a hearing problem.

The woman, identified only by her official username swiftie13 on TikTok and Instagram, shared a video of herself over the weekend with the caption, “Frontier Airlines kicked me off the plane because I’m a deaf flight attendant.”

The video shows an interaction between a woman and several members of a discount airline crew trying to make sense of the situation.

As a flight attendant speaks to the captain at the front of the plane, the woman is seen crying and can be heard saying, “This is so embarrassing” and, “This is direct discrimination.”

The pilot indicated that he was deaf on his ticket and would not have resisted if they asked him to back off.

The crew member finally returned to the seat to inform him that a decision had been made to remove him from the plane.

“I didn’t do anything bad,” said the woman sadly in this clip as she gathered her things.

He adds in his video that the flight attendants apologized to him at the gate when they booked him on another flight.

The video has garnered more than a million views and more than 3,000 comments, many of which criticized the airline and suggested filing a discrimination lawsuit.

But a representative for Frontier Airlines gave The Post a very different version of events Tuesday.

“According to a flight attendant directly involved in the matter, the passenger was on board with an open container which he admitted contained alcohol when questioned,” the representative said, noting that it is against federal law and airline policy to bring alcohol on board.

“When the flight attendant told the passenger about breaking the law, the passenger quickly drank the remaining alcohol from the officer before handing it over,” the representative said in a statement.

“The flight crew decided to remove the customer from the flight and he was rebooked on a later flight.”

The airline also disputed the woman’s statement that she is deaf and said that no disability status was indicated on her ticket.

“There was no indication that the passenger was deaf or had any type of disability and, according to various staff members who interacted with the passenger, he was communicating clearly and effectively with them during their conversation.”

The woman did not respond to requests for comment on TikTok and Instagram.

In one of his videos posted in December with the caption “How I found out I’ll be deaf in 20 years,” he tells the story of how he was told during his ear cleaning that he was deaf.

He says he almost had cochlear implant surgery early until he realized at the last minute that he would not be able to hear naturally because of the procedure.

“In fact, maybe I should have let them continue with the surgery because they wouldn’t have explained that to me, I would have woken up deaf, maybe I would have sued for medical malpractice,” she said.

“Eventually I’ll be deaf anyway, maybe I’ll get paid or something.”
